We need a place in the midwest/east for fiberglass

I really don't understand why people think fiberglass is only for 'prerunners'.

I am in the Midwest, and technically you are in the Eastern U.S., the only thing in the Midwest made for our Rangers are Fiberglass Toppers.

The Car culture of Southern California has an influence on fiberglass fender production....and Jim you got a 1st Gen, just get some fiberglass sheeting and some Rivets and you got a fender.

Or you can go all custom, here is a Midwest shop that does fiberglass;

They've done custom work for Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Dale Earnhardt, and others.

I always wish for a run in with a herd of deer so that insurance will give a check to buy some fiberglass fenders. I never even thought about how much shipping would cost from the west coast for a set of fenders though. With my luck they would arrive at my door cracked like a dropped egg.

I don't prerun, but I have fiberglass front fenders. I like them for (2) reasons:

1) They offer a larger wheel opening
2) They're lighter and save weight

I don't like the real wide ones with the big bulges, but I like the bigger wheel openings.

I'm sure guys would buy them if they were more readily available out here.

I don't know who owns it but I like it!

It's from McNeils website.

lol, my bad. its been along time. i figured TRS1 evolved past my recognition by now.

That's a cool hood. The center drop sort of gives it an EB look. Minus the vents would look good on a BII with a round headlight conversion and EB style grill.

plastic fenders would be even better! we had some we bought for our race car (late model) they were awesome. could bend, flex, dent and get absolutly smashed.... and still pop right back into shape. most of the paint would be chipped off though. idk why nobody has started making those for trucks. they probably cost about 35cents to make.

Probably because they don't absorb impacts & crashes as well, or the fact that plastic is considerably more flammable than just the top coat & clear paint. There's also craploads of plastic on the interiors... *shrugs* meh. I dunno.

there is a company already making polyurethane fender for rangers. but they are the 03 and up style.

jim you do realize that joel works in a fiberglass shop.

I thought Joel worked making big busses/coaches.

I may try and make my own set next spring. Plenty of info online on how to do it. Just need a metal fender as a mold.

Cause most of that stuff is injection molded. Cost about 100 grand just to make the mold. then you would have to have about a 1000 ton injection molding machine. So, you would have to have quite a demand for something like that.

Vacuum molding would be a better option, but there has to be a demand.

Someone just sold some polyurethane fenders on here not to long ago. forgot who made them, but they were for gen 2.
