wheres the water temp. sending unit on a 90 ranger,2.3,twin plug,5sp.,seems to be acting like it has a bad conection, temp gauge is bouncin up/down.:icon_bounceblue:

It is located on the drivers side rear of the motor near or on the the head. There is 1 single wire going to a 90 degree connector. The sensor plug looks like a bolt stud.

did you check the coolant level? if it's really low, a temp guage will do that.

pinch the connector so it fits tite you just need to tweak it a little if it is the connection

I'll add that the location on my '89 2.3L was directly above the oil filter. Much easier to reach from the bottom, and the oil filter removed, I'd imagine. I drained the radiator (full to begin with) about 2 gallons of coolant, and then just around a cup or so came out of the sender hole.
