Vinyl Protectant Dilema

I used to use a product called Clear Guard made by Turtle Wax for all of my interior vinyl. Stuff was magic. One application left a deep, glossy finish that went on evenly with one wipe. Dashboard looked like glass. They stopped making it in 2006 and I ran out soon after. I tried the new product from Turtle Wax but it looked and performed like water. Since then I have been buying different products based on friend's and parts guy's recommendations. The result is that I have half a shelf of vinyl protectants that are 49/50ths full.

So now i ask the question to the reasonable(?) people:
1. Have a product that produces results similar to what I have outlined?

Or better yet:

2. Anyone who formerly used Clear Guard find a product that is similar?

Does not sound like too much but I can't clean my interior now and think that I have finished it.

Have you tried a tonneau cover protectant?

That was going to be the next one I tried.

I had not considered that. Do you have a specific brand that you use?

It's called "Sportmaster Tonneau Magic Vinyl Protectant 444".

I don't know if this is what happened to your much loved Clear Guard, but some products got shelved due to health rick factors. You can probably thank your Government for Clear Guards demise. I've heard that the much loved, "new car smell", had it's own health risks.

I've been using Black Magic brand Pro Shine Protectant and I'm happy with it.

I hear that 303 products are amongst the best.

I thought that may have been the case. First lawn darts now this.

Turtle Wax Clear Guard

OMG... this is one of those weird things in a persons life that really is a serious big deal!!!! Never found anyone else that has used this stuff or knew the story behind it's disappearance. I used Clear Guard for a few years back in the late 1980's. It was the best water repellent and tire protectant you could buy!!! In fact, my driveway (30 years later) still has the overspray marks from spraying Clear Guard on my car's tires... but they are only visible when it rains or when I wash my current car. Clear Guard was such a persistent water repellent, that 30 years later it is still repelling water from my driveway. Read an article many years ago about the CEO of TurtleWax stopping the company's use of the chemical in Clear Guard because of environmental concerns. Their statement was something to the effect that the chemical absolute never breaks down and this could be a HUGE liability for the company as the chemical will persist in nature and in the bodies of the people coming in contact with it... FOREVER!!!!!

Next time it rains, I will post a picture of my driveway. Unbelievable how a chemical can still be repelling water 30 years after it's original application!!!!

This MUST be a Monsanto Chemical additive. A PTFE or some form of Fluorocarbon. Monsanto of course being the biggest corrupt, evil, "who gives a $hit" corporation on the planet!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck finding a replacement, and good luck to those who used the original Turtle Wax Clear Guard!!!!!! RIP!!!

Tire Wet does the same thing. Lol My dad always says something when it rains and he looks at the "parkway". I like all the Black Magic products.
