Hi All,
I have done the V8 swap on my 2001 ranger and added the Pats B system off the 2000 mountaineer, all working fine and vehicle starts up and runs great.
Problem Is that when I use a scanner to add a Key to the vehicle, It cannot find the module to program the key, I have access to 3 different makes of scan tools that can do the the job.
I still have the Pats E unit behind the airbag connected, Could it be conflicting with the Pats B unit through the data lines?

Thanks

A bit confused

2000 Mountaineer used a separate PATS module, located above glove box, behind passenger side airbag, type B

2001 Ranger didn't, it has the PATS module incorporated inside the Computer, type E
Not sure what you mean by, "I still have the Pats E unit behind the airbag connected..........."
Type E has no external PATS module

Did pins 5 and 6 get connected to the OBD2(DLC) data lines in the Ranger?
I would think they would have to be connected for the engine to start
I assume you can see Computer data via the DLC

Hi RonD,
It was me assuming again ford may have put the Pats E unit in the same Place as the Pats B.. I googled the unit behind my passenger airbag and its a central security module.

I still need to figure out why the scanners come up with errors when trying to access the Pats unit, I have it all wired up correctly as It starts fine and Theft light is working..

Russ.

This is the module behind the Airbag

Finally got it working , I used Forscan to check if it was a Blank key error, It gave me a B1601 code , so that meant the key was programmable.
It would not add another key to the system however many times I tried, so I finally gave in to erasing all keys and adding the 2 keys that fit the ignition.

Also used Forscan to adjust the Revolutions per mile on the Mountaineer ABS unit as It was reading incorrectly, It had been altered for 29" tires and mine are stock size.
