V8 ranger swap questions

Hello, my name is Josh. I have an 02 ranger 2.3 with a 5spd. Its nothing fancy, just a base model truck that I've had for about 4 years now. Anyways, I'm hoping to make it into something respectable and hopefully some of you guys will be nice enough to help me. I would like to do the explorer v8 swap with my ranger but am having problems finding out if its even possible. I have found lots of info on how to do it on a 4x4 ranger, but not on a 2wd. I would like to leave it a stick but dont know what tranny to use with it either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I apolagize if i didnt ask this question in the right area..

I plan on posting pics as I go in case anyone else may want to do it. Does anyone have any idea on what type of manual trans to use with a 2wd?

Welcome! Better find your way down to the V-8 section, best place for swap help. For a 4x2, most just use the common Mustang T-5.

What year mustang trans do they use? I know that mustangs used a cable style clutch until 2004, and then went to a hydraulic trans in the 05+. Just curious how well the shifter lines up and how you go about getting the hydraulic set up on the ranger to work...I really appreciate all the input you guys are giving me thus far though.

'93' is a good year but the shifter position is 5-7" behind the normal position. I have a chart showing the different torque ratings and gear ratios hidden away somewhere. Try doing a search for 'hydraulic', a bunch should show up. Lots of options out there, even OEM.
