ok so I have an 01 ranger 4.0 SOHC 4wd that is a donor vehicle for another project. The recipient project is 2wd though and I'm not interested in making it 4wd. What I'm reading seems to indicate that changing the tail shaft involves complete disassembly of the transmission. Any thoughts on just leaving the transfer case there and not hooking up the front shaft?
