unbiased opinions on the ranger vs. yota debate

^^^ why did you bring up at thread from almost a year ago?

So this thread is bitching over a Ford Ranger and a Toyota Tacoma? WTF there is a much better alternative, IF you don't need a bed, it's the JEEP.

Jeeps OWN ALL, in after-market support, OEM support and supported greatly by the 4x4 community, the Jeep is the best bang for the buck.

There is a reason a Jeep owner likes his ride, jeeps are of a unique design and the CJ5/Wrangler and the 84-96 Jeep meets everything a trail rig desires.

IMO the Toyota/Ford debate is silly, they both make fine trail rigs with major modifications.

If you start out with two equal trucks, a Ford and a Toyota, hands down the Toyota will be a better truck, IMO comparing a frame rusted Toyota to a clean Ranger is not a fair comparison!!!:icon_thumby:

As with any vehicle you need to learn the strengths and weaknesses of a design.

It's kindof hard to compare to a frame-rusted Ford if you can't find one.

About the only thing I can agree with is that you can buy more s#!t for a J00p than a Ford, but that doesn't make it a better vehicle (not even close). It's probably more because it seems so many J00p people have no qualms blowing $1100 on some bumper thing that you could easily build yourself for less than $110.

I love how 4x4Junkie always has a way of clearing these things up.

Silly people and they're Jeeps...

Yeah, you'll find the occasional rusted-off shock bracket or leafspring mount on a Ford, but almost never the whole frame itself.

If it wasn't for Ford there would be no Jeep in the first place. Back in WWII when it was plainly obvious that Bantam couldn't meet the army's production needs they were farmed out to other companies as part of the contract. Ford had there own example competing against what is now called the Jeep as did others, but under the agreement they got in on making the competitor's car anyway. Without Ford helping out they wouldn't have been made. Ford also improved things they didn't like, for example found the original grille to be much more complex than needed and simplified it by making it out of a stamped piece of steel with slots in it. After the war they tried to grab up the Jeep (it wasn't formally called a Jeep yet though) since they had a large role in its completed design and had made a bunch of them. But Willy's managed to hang onto it for awhile... but they did have to change the number of slots in the grille to shut Ford up.

Really it is probably a good thing that Ford didn't get Jeep, it seems the brand is cursed since no company has been able to stay in business that has it (Bantam, Willy's, AMC, Chrysler, Diamler-Chrysler, Chrysler LLC...)

That said I would love to get a CJ someday, I have wanted one since before I could drive.

And I still wouldn't own one on a bet. I've got enough friends with Heeps and Yotas, I know what goes on with them, no thanks!
