Turbo fun

yeah definitely, what tranny should i get/ use? im planning around 300 horse

I would suggest a v8 t5, you can have the input shafy tip turned down to fit the 2.3 pilot bearing, and get a 4banger bell housing.

so i could use my bell housing off of my current tranny on my 94 mustang t-5 i have sitting in my garage? i hear its alot more work getting the clutch to actually work.. ive also hear you can use/ buy a pilot bearing that will work in the 2.3 with a t-5

There is a bushing that allows the v8 t5 in the 2.3 crank, but it is very thin, and extremely hard to install. The clutch is easy, if you have a 4cyl t5 bellhousing, you can buy an external slave cylinder from summit, and an adapter plus some time, and bam, problem solved. But if you take the input shaft to a machine shop, and have it turned down to fit the 4 cyl t5 pilot bearing size, you can buy the 4cyk t5 clutch kit, and it will come with a new bearing.

so much stress lol.. so it wouls switch to external slave with a clutch fork and throw out bearing? that sounds like a boat load of problems. couldnt i maybe just pay someone to bullet proof the stock tranny?

Maybe, but I don't know if they make the parts, and if they do it would be a couple thousand for parts alone.

That slave cyl and some custom lines are all you would need.

i cant seem to find any wright ups on this transmission swap.. its seems like a lot of work, plus ive heard you cant remove the bellhousing from my transmission.

but i havent looked at it lol

No, your bell shouldn't be removable, but you can take a 4cyl mustang t5 bell for the swap.

oh mercy lol a 4 banger mustang didht have a t5 the v6 and v8 did, ill keep looking though, ive heard about adapter plated that make a t-5 fit on the 2.3 but i cant seem to find it.

This is true.... But I am going after the stock look, but giving it better internals.

Here's what I found out. the T5 will fit fine, I just need a bellhousing for a T5. The 5.0L and the 2.3L Mustangs used the same bellhousing, so that wont be a problem to get my hands on one. The 2.3L T5 and the 5.0L T5 are slightly different. The input shafts are slightly different diameters (same length though) and they have different 1st gear ratio to make up for the power differences.

I cant use a trans from a TurboCoupe (Thunderbird) though, as it has a hydrolic clutch set-up, so that wont work.

Looks like all I need to do is pick up a bellhousing, and a trans, and then get the correct pilot bearing and I should be all set.

is he high or is this information correct?

looked under my ranger just now, its not even close to the same as my t5
