Every time I go through a fairly deep puddle ( up to the floor of my ranger with 10 inches of lift ) the transmission acts up. It wont shift unless I let of the gas. After about a day or two its like it never happened and everything is fine. The trans oil and all is good and in good condition, fairly new filter and all.

This only happens when the truck gets really wet and I am assuming somthings getting wet and it dries out in a day or two. My question is what could it be? A connection or sensor?

Its a 3.0l v6 2002 ranger edge 2wd Thanks.

probably the transmission electrical plug on the shift on the side of the tranny. (also you relocated the vent lines right)
thats assuming its and auto you never said

All the plugs on the underside of my truck have been cleaned, dielectric greased, heat shrinked and metal duct taped up.

As for the vent, I was under the assumtion the 4r44e didnt have one. Yes it is an automatic.

ranger-84 is right there is a vent, its just forward of the tail shaft at the top. it looks like a mushroom cap, pop off the cap, 1/2 or 9/16 fuel line and a hose clamp and run it to the highest point in the engine bay. problem solved.

wile your doing that, do your rearend too. run it to the top of your bed, just next to your stake pocket on the rail.

If water is getting in your trans the fluid will be pink or milky pink in color. Water in the trans will cause major problems with clutches and bearings. Water in connectors from the EEC processor to the trans will cause shifting problems, this includes sensors and connectors. The Neutral switch at the shift lever can also cause a problem when water soaked.

well if he is bottom deep in a puddle he was prolly splashing around. so he said it goes back to normal after a day or 2 prolly warm makes sure it is g2g.so it might be....... sudden cool down in tranny. mmmmmmm def look at diff fluid though

I have already ran the rearend vent up and put one of those minature air filter breathers on the line. I did see that cap you are talking about viper commad, and I will take care of that this week. then check all the connectors and go get her wet agian and see what happens.
