I've put allot of money into my truck since I got it. Anyway, I fill it up with gas and head to the local Autozone to pick up a couple of things when I notice gas just pouring out! Needless to say, this thing is killing me! Oh well just wanted to vent! :annoyed:

Nova sure likes to bash rangers......yeah when they get old anything breaks. Im sure that foreign ride will do the same when it gets the amount of years that an 86 had on it. i personally have a 83, 2.8 bone stock truck, ALL orginal, with 36's sittin at the barn that still runs great

Well in 1996 i bought a z71 4x4 loaded 10,000 KLM = 9 transmissions 4 new,5 rebuilds. i got so pissed i stopped making the payment. GMAC finance, got mad and wanted the truck back i said great I do not want that *&^%$%$#@!@#%^&&**( truck it's at the dealer trans number 10!

Still driving my B2 over 300.000 and still going strong!

What do you expect, most Fords are Found On Road Dead, but lucky for Nova, there is the TRS......

Any old truck is going to have it's issues, except for the '85 C10 my dad drives, he has had it for 5 years and has never changed the oil, never put tranny fluid in it, never put antifreeze in, and has certainly never washed it! That thing is a FN miracle in the making! It just will not die! (When it does he says he going buy a new super duty, I guess the truck just doesn't want to get crushed!)

Sorry to hear about your troubles bro! Having a Gas leak is hazardous, and freakin expensive!

yeah when they get old anything breaks.

Very true...I think part of the problem is that I live in the Midwestern rust belt.

I'm almost afraid to ask, how expensive?

if its a relatively small hole you can patch it...theres a chemical resistant epoxy designed for gas tank repairs. i used it on my 88 B2 and it worked like a charm. theres 2 downfalls though....the tank has to be emptied and cleared of fumes, and it takes about 24 hours to cure. if its a decent sized hole you can try welding a patch to it and epoxy all around your welds to ensure it wont leak...but you still gotta wait 24 hours...

hope this helps..i see if i can find the name of the epoxy tomorrow

What the ****??? I didn't say a damn thing about bashing any Ranger in this thread. All I said is that it sounded similar to mine. That has nothing to do with all rangers. Like I said earlier if you could actually read...is that mine was simply a lemon and that not all Rangers are bad. Thanks for starting shit in this thread. I will probably get another infraction from this thread too. Thanks asshole.

relax dude he was just bustin your chops...its all in good spirits

Could it just be the fuel line leaking? Or is the gas tank physically leaking?

As of yet, I can't tell. I just know, based on my experience, it will most likely be the most expensive thing it can be. Seriously though, I need to take it to a repair shop and have them take a look at it. The truck is pretty rusted though, I think it's a fair bet that it's probably the gas tank.

I was saying expensive only because of the high fuel prices!
Hence losing fuel=expensive:icon_thumby:

Like posted earlier, you can put a patch on it, I patched a leaky tank on my old cb650 with some "Seal All" sealant, it worked untill the motor blew(about 6 months) The gas didn't eat it as far as I could tell.(wasn't leakin')

Although a patch is only a temporary fix in most cases:icon_thumby:

Unless you hit sonething changes are you will not be able to patch the tank. Filler pipes seem to be pretty popular lately.

Did you ever think that warnings for infractions might be from your free use of foul language? This is supposed to be a family oriented site.... which means little or no foul language.

As far as the leak goes, I'd climb under the truck and see if I could pinpoint the leaky area. If you can find the leak, it shouldn't be all that hard to fix it and then you wouldn't have to spend the money to take it to a mechanic.

Nope, didn't hit anything. As mentioned the truck is just pretty rusted. :(

you have a death wish don't you.

a new gas tank will run you $140 and new straps will cost $30. i just looked them up at work. if its a filler neck i couldnt tell you how much becuase we dont sell any. oh yeah, those prices are form autovalue/ bumper to bumper.

i think you can buy a plastic replacement tank
