TRS Event TRS 2023 Fall Adventure - Land Between The Lakes

I have been struggling with that lately.

I have a ton of pics. I sit down after everybody goes to bed, hit copy and paste to get them off the camera card onto my hard drive... and then I wake up at 2am

I think all my 1-2am bedtimes leading up to the trip are starting to catch up to me... :dntknw:
Rest up. We'll still be here.

I’m guilty of that from time to time. I’m not sure it’s paid off most of the time. Plus, I’m tired and grumpy.

I really did try to make it. I left work at 5:17 AM. Made it 1/2 mile before my partner called and said press 18 was doing some stuff he'd never seen before. I went back and didn't end up leaving till 1PM...

That's NOT gonna happen again.

I was wondering what happened to ya...

Wife has kept me busy here since Saturday. This is the first time I've had to start my computer. I've been working nights and painting 2 shelves, 2 doors, four walls, and part of a ceiling. Now looking at a floor sander rental.

Dang, you might be wishing for press 18 to start glitching again so you can get a break...

Sounds like they need a little more depth in people that do what you do. What are they going to do if you were not able to respond?

It was a weekend day where we usually only work 1 person in maintenance per shift. I could've left at 8 but didn't wanna leave the guy on first by himself. Considering I'd already spent 2.5 more hours with it by that time. Next time it'll just sit down. Not like that's an unusual occurrence there. At least once a month we have something down for 2-3 days waiting for parts. It would be slightly unusual that it's a 2000 ton press.

Short story, basically I went beyond what I had to trying to help the company. And when went back I thought it was gonna be a five minute fix.

It's never a 5 minute fix.

learned that lesson a few times over lol

and to go along with the above, no good deed goes unpunished.

What 97 said.

Make sure you keep a log for your next appraisal so you can remind them of all the times you bent over backwards to help them too. They always forget about that come appraisal time, especially if a raise is involved.

I agree with these guys. I've been doing maintenance since 1982. Remember; the company only cares about the company. They firmly believe that employees like you grow on trees and can be replaced instantly.

Getting ready to hit the road...

Cargo bay full of all the essentials... aside from all the stuff in the Bronco anyway.

Our convoy, my '85, @r-hindl71' '91 Ranger, my brother in law Jason's Sport Trac and @Mrs. Eighty Five's 2022 Bronco

Lots of this to look at between here and there...

Copilot doing copilot things...

But he works for cheap.

Terrain change getting into Missouri.

Rolled into Hannibal Missouri for the night.

Found a city park with an assortment of not native ducks and one lonely goose to cook supper.

Had to key an eye on @Mrs. Eighty Five to make sure she didn't try to smuggle more ducks home, she already has like 6 of them.

Onto Day 2...

Getting ready to roll out and we got problems!

Not really, a guy came running over wanting his newer F-150 jumped. He just put a battery in it and both cables were all but flopping in the wind, it was amazing the thing even ran to start with.

And we are off!

Great...

So I slipped into wally world and with a near seething hatred of the stupid mirror glue kits I swerved and snagged JB Weld superglue. Ran for half an hour with just button glued to the old glue and then pulled over again and put the mirror and it worked great for the rest of the trip.

BBQ for lunch just south of St Louis.

Poke it in fifth, set the cruise and let 'er eat.

First taste of Civil War history was at Ford D in Cape Girardeau.

Went thru Cairo, probably the saddest town I have passed thru. Burned out buildings, collapsing buildings, pretty much everything was boarded up and closed.

And just like that my Ranger is back in the state it was built... the first time.

And we made it to camp and got set up in the dark.
