TRS Event TRS 2023 Fall Adventure - Land Between The Lakes

Made it home with some drama...
View attachment 98332View attachment 98333

In 18 + years of owning my Ranger, this is the first time I have ever had to have it towed. Made it to within 36 miles from home and smoked a wheel bearing. Local (to the breakdown) Autozone did not have the bearings I wanted or even the rotor at all, so rather than put cheap bearings and do a messy parking lot repair, I decided to use my emergency roadside assistance on my insurance and just tow the truck home where I can deal with it on my own time and a full range of tools and see if I completely snarfed the spindle. The thing that really irks me is that those are Timken bearings with less than 15k miles on them. Originals had over 180k

I did have a great time though. Pictures coming..

And thank you @ericbphoto for the prep work on this outing, and the awesome scavenger hunt, it was a great and fun way to explore the area. I am glad that our newest forum member jumped on TRS, signed up, and joined us for the insanity, welcome @Bubba Bonanza to the group!

Thank you @Uncle Gump, @Mrs. Eighty Five, her friend Debbie, and @85_Ranger4x4 for the wonderful pizza's and campfire peach cobbler, and Eric for the homemade ice cream to go with it.

Stay tuned for pics... I have one or two good ones :)

Yeah man... that could have been a far worse situation. Glad it was close to home.

And yeah... for my part of the food that was shared... I was just happy to do it. I was thankful that Debbie stepped right up and made the majority of the pizza. She did an outstanding job with the prep... assembly and even helped get cleaned up afterward. She even put her time in cranking the ice cream churn.

THANK YOU DEBBIE!!! She's even pretty damn handy doing minor surgery with splinter removal... I know this first hand.

The biscuits and gravy... I vote we plead Ron and Mr and Mrs 85 for another round of that when we meet again. And the peach cobbler.

Also... @ericbphoto put a bunch of effort into making this a great trip. Thank you sir!

Eeeeeww Eric has bacteeeeeerrrriiaa

Good news. Dr. Said it doesn't look like a poisonous plant type of reaction. She thinks it might be more bacterial. But treatment is almost the same. So I'm getting steroid and antibiotic. Should be fine in a few days.
The female in question had coodies????

I went to Ohio to visit my mom.

I really appreciate all the work @ericbphoto photo put in to the scavenger hunt, cooking the pizzas, and making ice cream.

I appreciate @Uncle Gump for bringing all of the pizza supplies.

I appreciate @85_Ranger4x4 and @Mrs. Eighty Five for the excellent biscuits and sausage gravy. I'm a biscuit and gravy snob, and theirs was first rate. Also for the cobbler that I ate with @ericbphoto ice cream.

Thanks to @Robertmangrum.rm for donating a prize for the scavenger hunt.

Thanks to @bobbywalter @Mattman347 for fixing @Robertmangrum.rm brake line and helping @ericbphoto get his diesel started.

It brings me a lot of joy to sit back and watch all of you have such a good time.

And apparently visiting with all of you wore Marley out. He slept pretty hard when we left Sunday.

Made it 3 am.....had to nap for an hour....young bob was napping like a ferret during the first section of our trip to get his thing that identifies as a ranger and I told him to keep going...but we all made it.

Good times... Another Special thanks to Eric on the prep work.... definitely to the food and ice cream crew..quite a bit goes into the ice cream and campfire pizza and it is wonderful....Mrs 85...Gump ...85 ranger and crew...that is some serious work on the food....and Rob for the coffee ... You folks are priceless and a really appreciated your huge efforts. thank you thank you thank you... events like this are highlighted in memory by such efforts.....the camp biscuits and gravy was the best I have had....

I really need to clear a week for this type of thing as we were not able to run with the main group .. and after last year that was the plan to have my travel time outside of event time ... But fortunately it was cut short AGAIN.... I say fortunately because lil bob has a functioning kidney so far....and that was not on the schedule....so very grateful.

hopefully next time it will come together. Originally was getting in late wed and leaving on Monday......

and thanks to Jim for providing the source community for such events.

I'd be down for a week. The problem is, vacation is expected to be submitted no later than January. I doubt and don't blame the others not having a plan in place that soon. So I just have to hope that too many people aren't asking for the same block of time for the one or two days I have to request off once the plans are set. And that a deployment is planned for that time.

I forgot to thank @Uncle Gump @ericbphoto @85_Ranger4x4 and @Mrs. Eighty Five for all the good food. Zane said it was the best pizza he ever had. Hate I was trying to get brakes fixed and missed so much time hanging out with everyone. @bobbywalter and @Mattman347 saved the day and my trip. Of course Ford had to order the brake line. I'll swap it out when it gets here. May hang the old one on my wall of stupidity in the garage haha.
You guys are all awesome. Thanks for all the work @Jim Oaks and @ericbphoto for all the planning. Can't wait till we can all get together again for our next adventure
