TRS Event TRS 2023 Fall Adventure - Land Between The Lakes

Had a great time with everyone. Thanks again for all the help Friday night. @bobbywalter and Mike (I don't know his profile name) saved the day getting my brake line back together. @Uncle Gump and @ericbphoto and all the other who supplied me with fluid and help. Couldn't ask for a better group to hang with. Looking forward to the next campfire with the groupView attachment 98324View attachment 98325View attachment 98326View attachment 98327View attachment 98328View attachment 98329View attachment 98330

That was Matt @Mattman347 that helped you. He also helped @ericbphoto with his tow rig this morning

Man your a trooper. I can't explain en imagine how miserable you were. Still think some Cheetoos would have helped haha
It's just a constant, major irritation.

No Cheetos right now, though.

I made home at about 2200. The construction around Louisville was a traffic jam and really slowed me down. Not fun to begin with but worse with a clutch. I’m glad I don’t commute through there. I bet week days are a blast!

We have about 3.5 hours left, enough for today.

Made it home just before 9:00 this evening. All the important stuff is unloaded.

Now, after a brief snack, I'll swab my body with Caladryl lotion and go to bed.

Being covered in Orange Crush might have made you feel better.

I’m in PA at a rest stop, 105 miles from home. I needed to get out, stretch my legs, and decide if I should just finish out the drive or take a nap.

I just got home, grabbed a few things from the truck, plugged the fridge into AC, went inside to climb in bed. My wife and kid are in there!!! I’m going to sleep on the couch… this is bullshit.

Poison Ivy? I'm done messing with that stuff, I'd be off to the Dr. for some 'roids. I've never been able to kick it without them, despite many times trying. The last time was a month or so ago. I had a big patch of it on my leg. I battled it with cortisone and calamine for a couple of weeks and it was starting to get better, but then over a span of about 12 hours my entire body became covered with hives. Apparently that happens sometimes.

Made it home with some drama...

In 18 + years of owning my Ranger, this is the first time I have ever had to have it towed. Made it to within 36 miles from home and smoked a wheel bearing. Local (to the breakdown) Autozone did not have the bearings I wanted or even the rotor at all, so rather than put cheap bearings and do a messy parking lot repair, I decided to use my emergency roadside assistance on my insurance and just tow the truck home where I can deal with it on my own time and a full range of tools and see if I completely snarfed the spindle. The thing that really irks me is that those are Timken bearings with less than 15k miles on them. Originals had over 180k

I did have a great time though. Pictures coming..

And thank you @ericbphoto for the prep work on this outing, and the awesome scavenger hunt, it was a great and fun way to explore the area. I am glad that our newest forum member jumped on TRS, signed up, and joined us for the insanity, welcome @Bubba Bonanza to the group!

Thank you @Uncle Gump, @Mrs. Eighty Five, her friend Debbie, and @85_Ranger4x4 for the wonderful pizza's and campfire peach cobbler, and Eric for the homemade ice cream to go with it.

Stay tuned for pics... I have one or two good ones :)

If you're going to break down, it sure couldn't happen more smoothly than that on a long trip! Glad it worked out alright.

Made it 3 am.....had to nap for an hour....young bob was napping like a ferret during the first section of our trip to get his thing that identifies as a ranger and I told him to keep going...but we all made it.

Good times... Another Special thanks to Eric on the prep work.... definitely to the food and ice cream crew..quite a bit goes into the ice cream and campfire pizza and it is wonderful....Mrs 85...Gump ...85 ranger and crew...that is some serious work on the food....and Rob for the coffee ... You folks are priceless and a really appreciated your huge efforts. thank you thank you thank you... events like this are highlighted in memory by such efforts.....the camp biscuits and gravy was the best I have had....

I really need to clear a week for this type of thing as we were not able to run with the main group .. and after last year that was the plan to have my travel time outside of event time ... But fortunately it was cut short AGAIN.... I say fortunately because lil bob has a functioning kidney so far....and that was not on the schedule....so very grateful.

hopefully next time it will come together. Originally was getting in late wed and leaving on Monday......

and thanks to Jim for providing the source community for such events.

Looks like a fun time as always!

Bummed I couldn't make it again.. but the potential of being able to purchase something HUGE (both figuratively and literally) using cash presented itself to me last weekend.. and im now on overdrive trying to make that happen by the end of the year. Starting to get super excited. The trip probably would of cost me a quarter of what I still need to squirrel away.
