I was wondering if anyone had a in depth video of a 5.0 carbureted motor installation I really want to make my gauges work on my dash but I’m not good with wiring just kinda jumping into this build but I have worked on many cars just never did any type of motor swap and never seen anyone do it thanks in advance

First off... Hi! Welcome to TRS.

I don't think you're going to find a video of a 5.0swap. try reading a bunch of 5.0 swap threads in that part of our forum. You may find some of your answers there.

Making the gauge cluster work might take some research. Temperature and oil pressure might be easy. Speedometer and odometer might depend on what transmission you are using. Please open a thread in the engine swaps area and give complete info about your truck - year, original engine, original transmission, etc and info about the equipment you are putting in. What year 5.0? From what vehicle? What transmission? You are using the ECU from the donor vehicle, right? With lots of info, people here will be able to steer you in the right direction. This is a common swap.

Well I think it’s a 5.0 from a 94 or so mustang and no doner vehicle I rebuilt this with my uncle from the ground up bored it 30 over and i am putting it in a 1997 4.0 4x4 that I just pulled the motor out of I know I have to change fuel pressure with a regulator and I know I’ll have to make new motor mounts but I know lots of people on here know a few tricks on how to get them in a lot easier and I have a hard time understanding when I am reading that’s y I need a video of what to save and what to get ride of on my old wiring harness

You will have more issues to deal with. I don't think your transmission will mate up to that engine. Did you build the engine to run with a carburetor or EFI? The original computer in the truck will not operate a V8 engine. If you are using a carburetor, then that's not an issue. But wiring will be a lot different. You may have to change the brackets for all the stuff on the front of the engine in order to make it physically fit in the engine bay. Most people find that the FEAD (front end accessory drive) from an explorer works much better for fitment. This is not a project that is normally or easily covered by a simple YouTube video.

I have a 1988 Ford Ranger 2.9 V6 XLT rear wheel drive with automatic transmission. The truck has a miss at idle at the stop sign. The engine is out of the box. The person said I got water in the gasoline tank. How can I hook up a vacuum gauge to check the vacuum. Where is the computer located? Could it be a problem with the computer? I was not going to use the stock computer I was gonna get a msd ignition and just mainly wanted to know what wires coming from the dash cluster ran my gauges and would my alternator get hooked up to my msd ign or the wires for the dash cluster or are all the cluster wires hooked to the brain or would it just be easier to get the intake off a explorer and all the wiring harness and stuff cash is limited

i got a bare block with no pumps or anything and an intake from a carbureted boat with carb to match
