Went out of town this weekend and coming home saw blue smoke behind me. Pulled over and there was transmission fluid dripping off of my pipes. Got it home, washed it off good and added 1 quart of fluid to get it to full. have driven it 30 miles today and can find no leaks. What happened? when this happened, heat guage was up to half way. Any ideas?

If your truck has a transmission cooler check all of the lines coming in and out of the transmission, all the way to the transmission cooler. You may have a cracked or broken line, or a lose fitting somewhere, if its dripping on your exhaust, its coming from around the transmission itself, and if I remember correctly the transmission cooler lines are on the same side as the exhaust.

Reads like a pressure spray of fluid not a gravity leak.
You should have the A4LD trans, which does have it's problems, leak at the front seal is one of them but can't see that getting on the exhaust pipes as described.

I would check the trans cooler lines at the transmission end, the lines that run to the lower radiator.

Does it have one of those short vent tubes on top of the transmission....bugs like to crawl into vents causing fluid to spray out if it doesn't blow out of the dipstick tube first.
