Transmission, Tcase, and Power Steering Fluid?

It actually wasn’t an ai chat bot on the other end, I was transferred from that to a person, the person just spoke like an ai chat bot and I called him out on it too later on😂

Your screenshots won't bother the little AI chatbot a bit.

I would rather have aftermarket dex/merc or whatever than the Ford stuff that may or may not kill the trans.

The controversy over the V is why I went Penzoil Syncromesh and just bypassed all the drama.
Hmmmm now I’m scared to use the Mercon V I just bought😭 I know not to put the V in your tcase but I would imagine it’s fine for the trans

I know some internals of the M5OD changed in later years (when?), and that at some point ford did recommend Mercon V. Although there are reports of people using it and having more noise or harder shifting. (What models were they used in? Was there already a problem the V just made more noticeable?) Lots of variable there.

I just stick with the cheap aftermarket Dex/Merc, though I suspect 85_Ranger4x4 has the best solution with the Synchromesh.

Is syncromesh different than Dex/Merc? And is Dex/Merc the same thing as fords motorcraft Mercon ATF?

so should I use Dex/Merc in everything then?
Transmission, Tcase, and Power Steering Fluid?

Or should I use Dex/Merc in my trans and power steering and then use this in my tcase?
Transmission, Tcase, and Power Steering Fluid?

I’d use Dex/Merc all around but I also buy it by the bucket. I haven’t found anyone that sells Mercon V in a bucket. Buckets are cheaper than quarts/gallons when you calculate out the per quart price. I use enough to justify buckets.

So Dex/Merc is the same thing as motorcrafts Mercon ATF, correct?

Yes. Dexron III and Mercon are the same thing essentially, so it’s now known as Dex/Merc

This is interesting, if I remember right I used the Valvoline multi vehicle for my '90 last time I rebuilt it and I know I used that on my '97 F350 when I put it back together since it calls for synthetic which the multi vehicle stuff fits... the '90 as always shifts great, ZF5 shifts fine too, I know 4x4 junkie tried merc V and didn't like it... I hadn't put much thought into it, I know I'm way overdue for changing the fluid in the '97 Ranger so might get/find in my stash some regular dex/merc, I imagine I have 3 quarts floating around...
