I just replaced my trans in my 88 2.9... the trans i put in came out of a 91 3.0.. i had the bellhousing swapped by a mechanic and the shift link switched as well because the 91 is a collum shift and the mine is a floor shift. Its got a new torque converter, new front seal and bushing and new filter. I crunk my truck while it was on the jack stands to get the fluid flowing. I went into all the gears perfectly. And then out of no where it just stopped engaging in any gear. We checked everything to make sure it was all hooked up and ESPECIALLY the fluid. Everything was hooked up right and the fluid was right where it was supposed to be. I crunk it up again and tried selecting a gear and it went in perfectly again. It went through every gear. And then again it just stopped working
. So i cut it off for about 15 seconds and crunk it up again. AND YES THE FLUID WAS CHECKED AGAIN AND IT WAS FINE
. But after i crunk it up again it engaged in every gear like nothing was wrong. But after about 30 secs itd just stop engaging... Does anyone have any idea of what it could be? I had someone tell me it could have a crack on the inside of the trans case or that it could be the solenoid on the bottom of the trans... Please help me out yall
