I have A4LD transmission, and 3.0 engine. Does torque converter make a difference if it's fir 3.0 or 4.0 engine.

That’s a good question. I know the bellhousing is different but I’m not sure about the torque converter. Did you try looking up part numbers for the same year and see?

RockAuto has different part number from the same remanufacturer for a 94 with 4.0 (F577L2AA) vs 3.0 (F57FA or F57AA). I have no idea about physical mounting, but would guess the 4.0 that year has a lower stall speed. (I think that's right.) That would allow it to take advantage of the stupid low torque of the OHV.

If I had both in one place (say a junkyard) and wanted to experiment, a 3.0 torque converter with the 4.0 might be fun at stop signs.

Yeah I figured it out at 3.0 and the 4.0 don't really swap out. I mean you could but you would have to make the input shaft a couple of inches shorter or after everything is tightened down the torque converter and no longer spin inside the transmission. True story about 5 or 10 hours of Labor just figuring that out. Back and forth, transmission up, transmision on ground. Stop sign say, no pay long time.

Interesting. I’m not sure I really see any reason for the difference unless they are different stall speeds. Or some engineer trying to justify his/her existence…

I hate that. But I still don't like that every vehicle isn't a double din radio from the factory.
