Todays weather

round 2 here.....dont know how the hell it can sleet when its 13 degrees.
If I understand correctly, water can be "super saturated" in temperature, either to the hot or the cold. When the equilibrium is disturbed it flashes over. So liquid goes instantly to solid. As the water hits the car it turns to ice.

We call that flash freezing.

The size of this storm is impressive, but I've seen more sleet than anything. I think Mother Nature is saving the snow for our friends in the Northeast.

The forecast sounds like a song arrangement.

First verse; sleet
Second verse; freezing rain
Chorus; both sleet and freezing rain
Then, we'll just stir them together in diffetrnt keys for the bridge and remaining verses.

My forecast says there's a 100% chance of precipitation. They don't know what type or how much..... but it's going to be precipitating.

Everything is parked in the driveway and the windshields are covered. We''ll see what happens and how much of that happening we get. None of us need to be anywhere tomorrow.

I just went out and made sure the faucet was still dripping in the shop bathroom. It amazes me that it's only 12 degrees outside, but somehow still 38 degrees inside that building.

This is what the Beaver County radio community is saying about preps for the coming weather.

Good afternoon, everyone,
I wanted to share information that I've received today concerning the impending winter storm. Some information you may be already aware of, some may be new information. This is what I know as of 5:00 PM today:

1. PEMA headquarters, Harrisburg will be staffed from 8:00 PM this evening until the storm passes; they will be monitoring HF 7.2505 (Day) 3.9935 (Evening), DMR (TG-31420) and Winlink (KB3NIE); these will be monitored for storm reports and EMA requests that are unable to be completed through normal channels.

2. Red Cross (statewide) will be activated and on standby for sheltering requests, etc. from agencies that may require their assistance. KC3TOO, Rich, will be monitoring our .135 repeater should our county have any requests for assistance.
3. The Beaver County AuxComm program has been placed on standby for any requests from Beaver County EMA; primarily at this point, we may be called upon to report snow amounts, any damage observed, etc.; we will not be required to physically respond unless a major incident would occur. If we are requested, we will call up a net.

4. As of 5:00 PM, the forecast is still calling for anywhere from 9 to 14 inches of snow, beginning somewhere around 4:00 tomorrow morning, lasting at least through early Monday morning.
I am requesting that all stations monitor the 147.135 repeater starting at 8:00 tomorrow morning in the event that we are called to assist, and for any updated information. As more information is passed on to me, I will share it with you all.

Stay warm, stay safe!

73,
Dom N3EJL{/QUOTE]

9:00pm. Nothing here but a few light drops on the trucks. According to forecasts, especially 2 or 3 days ago, I'm supposed to be in the middle of Icemageddon right now with the whole world collapsing around me.
