That is incorrect.only if you didnt pay the sales tax. If you paid the sales tax in the purchase, then you just pay to register it.
Moving from Louisiana to Texas shouldn't be bad. Texas is very reasonable and has low registration costs.
Louisiana on the other hand, does not recognize sales taxes paid to other states. The LA DMV interprets the law to be "you must have paid LA sales tax on the vehicle before you can register it and get plates". When I moved to Texas from Kansas, the costs were minimal - like $15 per car / motorcycle. When I moved to LA I with the same 2 cars and a motorcycle, the sales taxes LA charged me on the same 2 cars I already had, was over $2000. I didn't even attempt to register the motorcycle.
