After I take care of the front suspension issues that I have with my xploder, I wanna lift and get 32" tires. What is the best way to lift this suv and how do I go about finding about bigger tires? I want I think at least 32's...
 
I can't say how much lift you will need, hopefully someone will chime in on that. But when you do get a lift, if money allows, stay away from a plate style lift.

As for tires, go on craigslist. There's 33" tires on there all the time. 32's might be a little harder to find. What kind of soil/terrain are you wheeling where your at? That will make a difference when u go to buy tires
 
xj +4 coil springs, skyjacker 4 inch drop brackets, and maybe a fender trim...
or just james duff or skyjacker lift if you can afford it.. but they have stiff coil springs usually.

or you could do a coil spring spacer and blocks/add a leafs and fender trim.
 
I live in a rural town. Pavement and there are trails 20 minutes from my house.

I don't know a thing about lifting, its why I was asking. I don't even know what a plate style lift is lol.

The c.s. spacer and the blocks were recommended to me by a neighbor who told me about a friend of his who did the same type of lift. Would this be sufficient of a lift? How high would it put my suv?
 
truckaddons.com offers a 4 inch lift for your ex for $218.99, then add nothing to it... b/c the camber bushings are cheaper at napa, bilstein shocks are better then skyjackers, and buy stonecrusher steering.

Thanks for the link, I dunno if I need 4" lift though..that's kinda high for the stock exploder don'tcha think?
 
4 inch is about typical lift usually.. and why do you say its to high for a stock explorer? what gears are in your axles?
 
It looks too high lol. I've seen 3" lifts on the 1st gens and they look really really high lol. I don't have any idea what gears are in it. The tag on the rear diff is unreadable.
 
what about the axle code on the door sticker?

i'd say just do a coil spacer and slight fender trim and blocks, if thats the way you feel. lol, idk exactly how much lift is needed to do 32's.. i'd recommend 33's tho.. they seem like the sweet size of an all around tire. just remember a simple lift can include anything from alignment bushings, shocks, steering issues, brake lines.. so on. just 2 inches or so shouldn't mess with to much.. and fender trims will keep COG low
 
The axle code on the door says 45.

What's COG?
 
cog is center of gravity
and 45 means open 3.55, i'd find 4.10 gear.. at least 3.73's. but i'd recommend 4.10's if you wanna do some offroading.. but regearing means front and rear gears...

anyways back to lift--> i'm thinking you will need a 4 inch, or a 3 inch and fender trim. i'm not sure on that... you'll have to research the required lift...
 
You need to find drop brackets for your leafs specifically made for the Ex. The brackets are different than Ranger/B2s. Hopefully someone will point you in the right direction for those. As for the front, you could add washers as described in the tech library. That should be good for around 2" and should let you clear 32s.
 
2-3 inch suspension lift- 32x11.50x15 on 15x8 rims NO fender rolling

2 inch body lift and 2-3 inch suspension lift- 33x12.50x15 on 15x8 inch rim NO fender rolling

3 inch body lift and 2-3 inch Suspension Lift – 33x12.50x15 – 35x12.50x15 on 15x8 rim
3 inch body lift and 4-6 inch Suspension lift – 35x12.50x15 – 36x12.50x15 on 15x8 inch rim No rolling

That's the specs from the explorer forum. The other sizes require fender rolling.
 
so you need a 2-3 lift for the 32's you wanna run. for just a 2-3 inch lift i'd do the coil spacers and blocks... the cheap way out!!
