Ok, I know everybody here is all about putting 33x12.5's and whatnot on their rigs, and I know you need 6" of lift to fit those... What I want to know is will I be able to fit a LT255/85 R16 (~33x10) on my Explorer with 4" of lift... I'm looking at either getting some Toyo MT's, or KM2's on some steel 16" rims... I wouldn't mind a little rubbing at full compression, and I can do a little inner fenderwell massaging, but I'd rather not cut my fenders if I can help it... I'm really looking at more axle clearance, with the least amount of lift, and I won't need a fat tire... My thinking is that going with a tall, skinny tire will get me better ground clearance with minimal lift, and not cause any steering issues... Any ideas?

it may work, I ran 31x10.50 with no lift on my 91. I had to trim 12" from the bottom the splash guard (behind the wheel) to keep the tires from rubbing.

It has 235/75 R15 Destination AT's now that spec out to 28.9" exactly... The 255/85 R16 KM2's are 33.3" so that's 3" taller and 1" wider... Thinkning I would gain 3" with the lift, I think it would be just fine... Putting it back to what it is now, except with several inches more clearance under anything...

yeah it should work fine....... you may need to trim a little bit it should work just fine.

i'm running 215/85x16's (30.7" dia) with a 2 inch body lift. love the narrow tires for picking my way on the trails. and they help with the gas mileage as well.

Exactly the reasons I wanna pick some up... Greater ground clearance and it won't kill my gas mileage, lol... I could easily fit 215/85's right now stock... I'm hoping I can get the 255/85 on there... Otherwise I might try and find something a little shorter...
