Throttle Cable Question

I installed a 1990 Lincoln Town Car 5.0L/AOD in my 87 BII 4X4. Went to install the Lincoln throttle cable but find it is approximately 5" too long between firewall and mounting bracket. Too much of a kink/bend.

To anyone who has done a similar swap: What throttle cable did you use? Did you have to modify the donor throttle cable and if so, how did you do it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you try the stock 2.9 throttle cable? I THINK that is what most EFI guys do.

Original BII throttle cable won't work for me. I think you're right that it can be used on those engines with throttle body on passenger side of engine, like the HO. My engine has throttle body on driver's side making the original cable way too long.

The upper intake will work in either direction. If you have the room on the passenger side just flip it around.

Searched the salvage yards for a cable that would work. No luck.

I just needed a cable 4" shorter so out of frustration I went to cutting on the cable I had. To my surprise it turned out to be pretty easy to modify.

I'll write up a how-to when my project is done and time permits.
