not to sound like an idiot, but I was watching YouTube and some guy did a throttle cable mod that made his 0-60 times better and overall better throttle response, yet he never explained what he did. My question is what is the throttle cable mod and does it really work?

look for throttle cable mod in the tech library and yes it helps throttle response

On some Rangers the throttle cable is too long and the throttle butterfly won't open all the way even with the gas peddle pressed all the way to the floor, and the cable mod in effect shortens up the throttle cable so that the butterfly will fully open and you'll have full power.

its just zipties on the throttle cable by the gas pedal, it effectively takes the slack / stretch out of the cable so you can get the throttle to open all the way before the pedal stops going down. its a worth while mod, just hard to get your hands up in there.

Yeah it works really good I thought something was really wrong with my truck because I couldn't get it to kick down going up hill, turns out my pedal was bottoming out long before it should. 4 zip ties and its good.

Is there anything I need worry about with the zipties getting caught? Also is it best to do both cables or just the throttle?

when i did mine i used a piece of the hard vaccum tubing that ford uses and just cut a slit down the side and then put a zip tie around it to keep it from coming off. does the same thing as a bunch of zipties, just has less "flex".

i done it on my b2, took a maximum of 1 minute

did the mod sunday and couldnt be happier, its like a whole new truck.

a stupid question. maybe? Can I purchase a new cable anywhere that someone may know about old stock? F77Z9A758UA Please advise me with any help . Thank you,
Luner

I just did this mod and as I test driving it all of a sudden my 4x4 lights started blinking. ANY reason at all this could be happening? The last time they were blinking, it was fixed. I just think its odd that as soon as I do this mod the lights start blinking for the first time in months.

Yes! This works awesome. I think the truck goes faster (must not have been getting wide open) but more than that I am really enjoying the nicer "feel" I have.

Takes 1 minute... Maybe $.02 in zipties? Highly recommended.
