My credo
My world is filled with stuff that needs to be fixed
I got a reminder that not all forums are as active and useful as this one when I tried to get help on another vehicle. My son's girlfriend got a 2008 G6, which is pretty nice but has a few things to be fixed. One of those is clearly a GM firmware bug in the PCM, and I'm trying to get some help on how to fix it, so I joined a forum and posted a question. Zero responses.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Well... honestly, how many pontiac g6's are running around vs the sheer number of rangers. How many people can their even be on a pontiac g6 forum. :icon_confused: youll see the same thing with a mustang forum vs a Aztec forum.

This forum works because at some point everyone on earth has at least driven in a ranger if not owned one. ?

Facebook has killed most forums. As well as Craigslist. That's just the way of the world today..

The quality of a forum is founded on it’s members and staff. If the rules and enforcement is too strict, it will drive people away. If a lot of the members are jerks or immature, it will drive people away.

This forum found a good balance.

It think the subject matter makes a difference as well. Some subjects just draw the negative for a forum crowd out.

Of course, it still comes back to members and staff. I’ve belonged to several forums of the same content and was driven away even though the same content was covered. Honda CR-Vs would be an example. One forum that is now defunct was excellent. Another has mostly douce nozzles on it. I use that example since I no longer have a CR-V and don’t belong to any of the forums that cover them anymore.

Also. What do you expect from GM owners?? Sheesh. We all know they're terrible people. ??

Just saying...

I've never had a social media account of any kind. A couple of web forums like this one is as close as I've come The damage that sites like Facebook have done to this society is quite clear.

Also, microsquirt the G6.

Or, sell it and get a Ranger. Or a K Car.

The G6 isn’t mine. I’ll admit it isn’t horrible, but still nothing I’d want.

Yes. We have the perfect balance of knowledgeable, helpful, immature jerks here. It’s perfect and I love it.

Noticed this morning while working on a Perkins 4.203 that this forum has greatly improved my abilities turning a wrench. Little things that I never would have looked at in the past or thought about are at he front of my mind now. I've been noticing how much more heavily I've been relying on what's left of my hearing to perform diagnostics, along with a few tricks I've picked up on here. Hands down most useful website I've ever found.

Side note: trying to convince the owner of the Perkins to let me turbo it. ?

Side note 2: I still don't like diesel engines.
