Third Brake Light other lights

Hey! Been awhile since I've posted, because my '99 Ranger, nicknamed Ruby, has been wonderfully trouble free. Love that thing. Anyway, you know the lights above the rear window, the clear ones outboard of the brake light? Are they supposed to light up in reverse?

No, those are cargo lights. Supposed to come on with the dome light.

No, they are "cargo lights" to light up the bed, they are turned on by turning on the Dome light in the cab using the dimmer, turn it all the way and it should "click" and dome light and cargo lights should come on

Main light switch does not need to be on, nor does key have to be in or on, there is 12v available full time for the dome/cargo light switch
