im going to go order some warn jeep hubs for my ranger and throw my ranger warn hubs on my b-4000, what year of jeep and what front end would i ask for when ordering my hubs?

they never came on a jeep, so you cant order them by year or model, they are part of a warn conversion kit that they make for the jeeps. And yes as said the warn part number to order is 37780.

Yeah, 'cause nothing's indestructable

Someone ought to remind that dude there is a lifetime warranty on those hubs... a new one is available for free if he were to take (or send) back that broken one.

kinda looks like operator error to me?? he was binding up and hammered it from the looks of it, i know personally on my old ranger i wheeled with the FACTORY hubs and never grenaded them like that guy did the SIGNIFIGANTLY stronger jeep upgraded hubs......

but ya, theres a reason they have lifetime warrantys

Yeah, one guy blowing up one hub isn't really much to go by. I am definitely considering running a set this season, especially since I blew up a set of regular Warns last summer.

hick

Bingo. The one time I've seen one break in person, the rig was bound up and he fed it a bit more throttle... BANG!

Alright I am the one who blew that hub to pieces.
#1 I was not bound up I was spinning cause I was high centered on my newley fabricated tranny crossmember.
#2 when I called Warn they said as long as the locknut didn't come off in the hub and cause failure the dealer should warranty the hubs as a set cause they don't sell them as singles. If warn says that then why will the dealer ie. JIM OAKS not warranty them it shouldn't cost him anything I will pay all the shipping.
#3 I completely understand that nothing is indestructible but I blew my auto hubs I was bound up with my auto's but what ever I just hate the fact that I paid $180 for an item that is supposed to be Life time warranty and the dealer will not warranty it.
#4 if he doesn't want to warranty them maybe he can just send me a copy of the reciept so I can send them back to warn. I don't care what needs to happen but this is not good customer service it isn't like I have had them for ever and been on many trips I bought them in january and have used them on 2 trips.
Again Jim I ask that you please help me out here I planned to buy gears and other stuff from you but this puts to much doubt in my mind about the customer service.

Welcome to TRS.

Suppliers frequently try to pass the burden of a warrenty off to someone else in the chain; that's why Warn said is was Jim's responsibility. But just because they say it is, doesn't mean it is. To my knowledge Jim expresses no warrenty of any kind on these. So when you bought them, you should have had no expectation of any warrenty.

Also, suppliers generally have limitations on warranties. For example, the product needs to be used for what it was designed for. These hubs were not designed to turn 35" tires on a locked axle; therefore the warrenty may not apply even if there was one. This is to protect the supplier from buying a hub and running 40s and blowing it out all the time, at the cost of Jim or Warn.

thats fine but all though I am running a powertrax lockrite I am only running 34x10.50 ltbs and if he is not gonna honor any warranty then he should make that perfectly clear and when they were ordered there was no statement about not honoring the warranty.

u do realize 34" ltb's and a lockright will wreak havoc no questions asked, HOWEVER i have never had a problem having warn replace them for me without going through the dealer, they are giving u the run around, i have not heard anyone having a problem ever purchasing something from jim.

u might look into the d44 knuckle swap for ur use, becuase if u did that to a warn jeep hub in 2 trips then u will grenade any hub, and when u run the 1/2 ton knuckles u get 1/2 ton hubs which will hold up to the kind of abuse u want to put it through....just a friendly word of advice from another rbv enthusiast, and u can sell them for a good return on investment once they have been replaced, to fund ur knuckle swap

Well I hope Warn isn't cheapening out on these... there was another report of someone breaking one some weeks ago, although it appeared to be 2nd hand info.

FWIW, when Warn first introduced these hubs, they didn't put a tiresize limitation on them, that came about some years later. They currently list 32" as the limit, but being that the hubs were originally designed for a REAR axle (The D35 FF conversion), the loads they'd see out back would be FAR greater than up front. 35s shouldn't be a problem when doing front axle duty (and normally isn't). These same hubs are used in their D30 front conversions as well.

I guess you could always do the D44 knuckle swap, then run drive flanges. That'd guarantee no more broken hubs for sure.
