I found this truck and bought it dirt cheap to play around in the woods with the MAKE IT OR BREAK IT off road club. Its an 88 ranger 4x4 2.9 v6 5 speed with a 3 inch body lift and I'm guessing a 3 inch suspension lift. Also has a detroit locker in the rear. Plans are flat black paint job, 34x10.50 LTB's (on the way), Exo cage eventually, once the axles bust 1 tons, when the motor blows its getting a v8 prolly a 302.

Its deffinatley going to be fun I think they must have changed the gears as well b/c it will smoke all 4 tires on the highway and a 2.9 isnt exactly a big power motor. Anybody have any ideas on building a tube bumper for this I need to build something but Im not sure where to go with it functionality is the only thing that matters idc how it looks.
 
Just hack off the front x-member and weld some C to it and go from there.
 
first off welcome to the rangerstation... that's one sweet ride i wish you the best of luck with it .just remember to keep us posted with the changes..

if you look in the Body, Suspension & Occupant Armor forum you will find several threds on bumpers and armor that you may find usefull in your mods..
 
beautifull rig for wheelin! my first bumper was 10x4x3/8's channel, curved at the ends with a hole cut for the winch. beast of a bumper, very easy to make. got lucky finding the piece of steel in the yard at my old school.
 
I talked to a friend of mine and hes building me a tree proof stinger style bumper and some sliders for it so Im in the clear there. Just got to build my cage and fix some other stuff and take it out and test it out.

I am calling BULLSHIT on this one. There is no way in hell a 2.9 equipped vehicle with 2 locked axles (if they are not locked you CANT burn all 4 tires) can burn all 4 tires. ON THE HIGHWAY? you need to let your ego or the crack stem rest before you post. I KNOW I beat the PISS out of my b2 with 1 locked axle. Doing a burn out is still difficult even with 456 gears. Any idiot can cover there driveway in motor oil and do a burn out. If you gave me a extended cab ranger with a 4cyl on 2 welded diffs I could do a burn out on ice or a oil slick too! (yes I know Ford never made a extended cab 4wd ranger with a 4cyl. engine)

dude think about this Im in Iowa all the tires are bald and theres not even a bed on the back. In 2wd it will still spin in 3rd gear lol and theres salt all over the roads..... lol settle down now and by burn i mean it spins freely not will do a damn smoke show lol

you said, "spin all 4". what the hell does Iowa have to do with anything?

I am not trying to be a dick but just about any truck with an open diff can get one wheel peal action.

The Iowa part was reffering to our crappy county workers that always put way to much salt on the roads in some spots you can the hole tom cruise slide thing lol but no i was bored had it on the road wound it up and and dumped the clutch spun all 4 for a half turn or so lol damnit let me have my fun lol until I get the cage on it.
 
Got my Cb mounted to the dash and antenna mounted ran most of the electrical and got a tube bumper made for the front and finished up my cage. Now Im kicking around the Idea to move my battery b/c the tray has rusted off the engine bay and it would be easier to charge/jump mounted out back on the cage.

+1, im swappin in a 2.9 if this is true, lol. You sure it wasnt the clutch slipping?
