yeah since then i put a coil on the antenna and a tennis ball on it to keep it from beatin my truck.

Seein guys on here with hard mounted antennas is just something you never see down here in the south. Im honestly not used to even seein the short fiberglass whips.

i'm originally from the south as well. grove, oklahoma.

i put a coil on because i was beatin up my mount on pine trees...

then the coil was allowing the antenna to hit my new hatch so i put a patriotic piece on my truck to stop it...

The little small springs arent seen down here either. I run a large coil and a 102" whip hooked to a Dave made 6+2 and a Galaxy 33

personal preference... i like it to stick up a bit higher. i may run duals if i can get them far enough apart (right at 60") so they don't phase...

Dont run duals. Get a good wilson magnet mount and put in the center of the roof. Get a good strong magnet mount and then get a short firestick

well the one i have now has a confirmed 2 mile reading with all the red lights lit up on the other end. my end is clear as a bell too.

I ran a wilson mag mount on the roof of my tahoe and at 5 miles with my dave made it would peg out a galaxy 44

Thats true. You guys probably dont need to talk half way across the county. Down here we run dogs on 10 and 12,000 acre runs so we have to be able to holler from here to wayyyyyyyyy over there. lol.

the truck has been parked for a while because the fan clutch is out (locked solid, sounds like a blower) the 3.55s are killin my mileage, and i wanna do the exhaust different...
