the slo-vo build thread...

Weld it up Jeff. I've been running a welded rear for well over a year now and it's my DD. Over 70 miles a day. 65-75 MpH

It's one of the best things you can do on an 8.8 to keep it alive with bigger tires. If you had one grenade it's because of poor prep and/or welding.

i never had any problems with mine, and it was a 28 spline although i was just running 31's when it was welded but i beat the shit out of it like dumping the clutch in concrete never broke anything

just sucks when your in parking lots and tight corners on concrete the tires "scrub" its deffinantly hard on tires though

if i end up going to a sterling when i swap in the d44 ill be going back to a welded diff

here's the brackets...

the driver side is done,

the passenger is done just need to make sure i have the front plate right and weld that last piece and its ready for paint,

damn welder was having fits and was getting alot of splatter so i coulnt weld much at a time but they turned out alright just not as pretty as i wanted

damn he did a good job building those.

hell yea they are a beefy design, i wont ever have to worry tearing them up on my rig

Jon, check your gas level/settings...Mine started doing that and my gas was almost empty

I just dont care if it breaks, like i said i have plenty of spares ready to go in. I dont care about anything breaking,, i have several complete trucks so breaking shit isnt a problem lol
and the truck wont see any more than 50mph anyway
jon the brackets look good. wish i couldve got some when i had the chance

Rick, it's not the gas it's the welder it's always done it...25 year old Lincoln with a 30% duty cycle it's deffinantly time to upgrade welders

Thanks guys, trying to decide when I want to start pulling it apart as soon as Christmas is over so I can start stock piling parts

still better than my welder.......wait, I personally don't have one....:thefinger:

as for pulling it apart.....don't do it til' ya have the parts already stockpiled....

cause ya never know when we might go wheelin' before ya have all the parts.....unless ya just gonna put all the stuff back in the EX....

l8r, John

Yeah, that'll do it too :icon_thumby: Talk about time to upgrade! That thing is about as old as the old...well, you know :D
SVT

I wish I had even a 30 year old welder... :annoyed:

id like to get a good free weekend and swap it all back to the ex so ill atleast have it back, nothing like oweing money on something that has been sitting on jackstands for a few months now :annoyed:

i think when it all goess back to the ex id like to set it up a little more and find me some 33's but it will most likely stay on 31's

only time will tell with me...i might get excited and pull it apart tomarrow or wait a month for all i know

as for the welder, it was a hand me down...my dad bought it new way back and there's no telling how many 30lb spools have been through it

thinking about a miller next no around...
