Hey my name is Anne. Im 21 and and living in North Carolina at this current point in my life. I bought a 2005 Ranger Edge 4.0 2WD in november. Its my first truck and i absolutly love it. I havent done much to it yet but i plan to in the near future. Currently i am looking at cold air intakes and throttle body spacers to put on my truck but i am not sure which ones to get i am thinkin K&N or AEM. If you have any suggestions let me know. i like to hear others opinions and imput.

Welcome to the site!

What are your plans for the danger ranger?

The throttle body spacer will do ditto for your truck, sorry. Except make it whistle:icon_thumby:

A better flowing air filter might help out a little tho.... Like 3 hp

There are ways to pump up your truck without shelling out for items that give the same performance boost. If your truck still has the factory air intake, remove it and take the baffle out of it. This will give the same gain as a cold air intake.

Welcome to TRS :icon_thumby:

Throttle body spacers won't do diddly for your truck except change the truck's powerband. You'll still top out at the same numbers, also Rangers are already equipped with cold air intakes, so investing in aftermarket intakes is pretty much a waste of time.

Don't worry, you'll get edumacated in Rangers pretty quick around here :icon_thumby:

so you think that i should just up grade my intake but dont spend the cash on a whole new cold air intake system. i kinda like the whistle from the throttle body spacer but if its not gonna do a hell of alot then i am just not gonna bother.. i want to make it loud and obnoxious but yet sound good... also sometime in the near future i would like to drop it... im not sure if i should put bags on it or not... even tho i know i love hittin those switches.

Making a 4.0 six shooter sound good can be a challenge but it can be done. I have the 4.0 OHV motor in my '96 and I'm running a single in, dual out Magnaflow glasspack with 3 1/2" tips that dump in front of the right-rear tire.... sounds pretty good, especially for a 6 cylinder.

I think a new muffler would be more towards what your going for if its just sound. Get a flowmaster 40 series and it will give you more of a deeper rumble sound.

I second the Flowmaster 40, very deep rumble sound

What should i do with the 4 cats on my truck to make it sound good with an aftermarket muffler?:icon_confused:

Leave the cats there. If you take them out you'll have a check engine light for sure. Up here, we're not allowed to mess with emmissions stuff because we e-test every 2 years. The flowmaster will give it the rumble you're after for sure. I like the idea of bagging the Ranger too. I'm working on bagging my 85 for drag application and it's a great way to go from what I've seen. Got any pics of your truck?

i dont have any pictures yet but when i take some i will be sure this is the first place i put them.....What about high flows and headers? i am tryin to go for unique and different looks because i am a chick with a ranger and not alot of people appreciate the fact that i am so into my truck....

Pacesetter and Patriot both make emmissions legal headers for your truck. You could add high flow cats but it depends on O2 sensor placement if you have them placed between the front and rear cats. Some times manufacturers like to tailor their emissions systems progressively (ie based on emissions getting lower as they head downstream in the exhaust). My wife and I are patiently waiting for delivery of our new 08 Ranger and I've been looking for possible mods already. Gets addictive doesn't it?
