The Legacy of Whopper Jr

Couldn't find anything other than the splice style.

There is the splice style, but the one you are replacing will be from the battery to the starter. You can get the double eyelit style, long enough to replace what you have. Did you take a look at D's cable? It might work. It's getting replaced anyways when we do the motor swap...

If "D's" won't work, take the old cable to your local Napa, both of them (Napa) around here will make custom wires, yes it does cost more then just going to AutoZone and getting a generic cable, but in the long run, it will be worth it.

Do you change your signature with every post? Lol

If I'm doing that, im splicing that sum bitch first. D has a hodge podge of wiring. I still don't know how I'm going to get that truck running again....

Oh wait!! Yea I do! Rick to the wiring rescue! Lol

My sig stays the same, I'm just adding the last part like the tappa talk thing does some times from your all's phones.

splicing cable really isnt that difficult. and can be done to work and look very nice. however ide verify 100% that it's the cable that's bad before replacing it. from the sounds of things it is but i really hate throwing parts at stuff in attempt to fix it. try using some jumper cable's in place of the believed to be bad wire to verify. (use necissary caution that it doesnt short out or try and run you over)

Wiring? Psh, I'll have D done in my sleep :D

It was the power wire. Picked up a really nice splice kit from AZ for a whopping 11 bucks. Fires right up again. Wahoo! Love this little truck!

Finally fixed the passenger seat. Cut off the brackets, smoothed everything out, and welded on new brackets I stole off the old seat.

Lil red has been kicking ass and taking names in the DD duties, and I felt it was time to start addressing the issues with this little truck. I won't get everything done, but I do have a busy weekend planned. I ordered new leaf spring bushings, new shocks, shock mounts, and hangers from LMC last week. Everything is here, so it's time to get to work. I also have a used Factory exhaust so I don't have to deal with this leaky mess anymore. I also picked up a Budwiser beer tap that will soon find its place as the shifter. I don't like Budwiser, but the tap is red, they are American, and that's right up my alley, not to mention it was CHEAP. Stay tuned. This is going to be a good weekend....

Finally got a weekend... Err... Day to work on one of my trucks after house hunting. We had been looking for a house since November, had they money in June, and placed our second offer last week. The first was a dump that after the inspection we ditched. This one should be damn nice. Closing is August 31. I'm stoked!!

Anyway, the B&M shifter handle in this truck was a giant pet peeve of mine. I have always hated the T shifters, so when I got this truck in October, I knew this would be something that disappeared. Here is the before shot

Now the after, you will have to wait until I get the shift boot made. Just know, it's cool as hell.

I also had a new windshield installed along with resealing the back window.

Now I am working on the exhaust. I took the exhaust off D, which of course was a 94 4.0 truck. Just to inform everyone.... 4.0 FLANGES AND 3.0 FLANGES ARE NOT THE SAME! So now I am trying to fabricate something to work. I have no exhaust after the Y pipe before the cats. I will take pics of my plan to fix this. I ran out of time today, so tomorrow I will hopefully finish. Driving the hot rod for now.

Jeez what a pain... So the exhaust off D didn't fit as we all know from my previous post. Well, I still wanted to run cats and 02 sensors, so I went to work.

First thing that didn't fit was the flange. The flange on the earlier 4.0 OHC is larger than the 3.0 flex exhaust. So I cut both flanges off, used the smaller one on the cats, and tacked it together. The oval opening is the same size on both pieces, just be careful lining them up.

Next up was the hanger that sits between the two cats and mounts to the transmission mount. When trying to install the cats, the hanger was too far forward... So off that came and I moved it back about 3/4". Now everything is in a good position, tacked into place, and ready for the muffler to be installed. That is my project for today.

I'll get pictures of everything this afternoon.

All the pain and cutting and splicing and hacking was all worth it. This little thing is even more awesome to drive now! It's muuuuuuch quieter, and has about twice the power it did before.

Here is D's cats welded to the 3.0 flange. (yea, my welds suck. Phuck off)

The next problem was the hanger mounted on the cats. Of course it would In a different location. Not to fear though! A little lazy work with a cutoff wheel and booger work with my Hobart and it now hangs with pride.

Then of course I had to remove the muffler, because the hangers on a 94 4 liter ext cab is different than a 99 3 liter reg cab. I had to put in some new pipe. It is a smaller diameter, but I'm not building a race truck, and it was free and it is brand newish

I reused the stock 02 sensors up top, and tried to use one off the 2001 out back, but it's different. So now it's just plugging the hole until I decide to go get a new one.

As for the shifter, it's done, but I am waiting until I get the boot done before showing it off. It's fun shifting with it. If my C10 was a floor shift truck, it'd have one of these shifters.

Hey josh, did you have an allergy attack when you did the exhaust? That's a lot of boogers under there;missingteeth; Glad you got er going :icon_thumby:
