New 15” Wheels. What gear ratio?

235/75-15 and 30x9.50-15 are the same size

When I had my 2010 I went from the 235s to 30s and there was a noticable difference in diameter. Tires ain't ever the same size lol, it's really bad with 4 Wheeler tires. They're generally always an inch under what it says in the sidewall.. some brands are right on.. some brands actually run big.. like wtf lol.

Well, they’re supposed to be the same size and years ago they often were.

I noticed the four wheeler thing myself. Even in the same model tire and size several (85-15) years apart was a huge difference. (Like 2.5 in.)

What is the gas mileage like with a 3.73 gear ratio?

Not sure who you’re asking. My first Ranger (3.0, 5-speed, 3.73 gears, 235/75-15 tires), well, pre-ethanol gas I got 22-25 around town with a bed cover and 28-31 mpg highway. After ethanol gas it was 17/18 around town and 22/23-ish highway.

My 88 Bronco II (2.9, auto, 3.73, 215/70-15 tires got about 18 around town and no idea on highway because it ate a couple valves before I could really figure it out.

I had an identical 89 Bronco II for a few years with 30x9.50-15 tires and 235/75-15 tires that got about 18 around town and 22-ish highway when I got the issues worked out.

My 92 Ranger (4.0, auto, 3.73, 30x9.50-15 tires) got about 14 around town and 18-ish highway and I was still chasing problems when I got clobbered.

My green 00 Ranger that I swapped 3.73 gears in with the 5.0/AWD conversion was getting 12-ish on 31” tires, but that’s also what it got with the 4.0 and 4.10 gears and I was still chasing problems when I took it off the road last year to address a number of those problems. Jury is still out where it settles but I’m also going to a smaller tire/bigger rim with this… adjustment…

I can only tell you for 3.45 and 4.10. I got about 22 mpg with the 2.5 Lima in a RWD regular cab. The terrain and if you drive mostly Interstate, highways, or in town will have an effect as well.

Someone in a more flat area will see better mpg than someone who lives in the Appalachian mountain chain.

Highways that see no more than 55 - 60 mph tend to give the best mpg, with fuel mileage dropping as your speed increases above that.

The tires you use make a difference as well. Stock sized all season or highway tires will give you the best mileage, with all terrains and mud terrains giving you less.

So, as a rough guess, maybe 25 mpg? Supposedly, these trucks can get 30 mpg with a four cylinder.

Since you have a 3.0, I wouldn't expect more than something around 23-24. My 2011 with a 4.0 SOHC saw 23 mpg once, maybe twice, when the stars aligned just right. 20-21 was more what I saw before I went with a bigger, all terrain tire. Now, it's more like 18 - 19, with an occasional 20 mpg.

Just asking anyone. I only get 20 mpg on the highway my B3000 with my 3.45 ratio.
