The Legacy of Whopper Jr

Good to hear, my front end swap just got cheaper :D Still got that trans, lower center console and seats for ya, might head that way sometime next week. Seats/console going in Lil red?

SVT

I don't need the seats (remember, I was telling you I picked up a perfect set from the JY) just the lower console and trans.

The seat from the tab cab is going in this so I can still fit 3 people uncomfortably in here. The console and leather ploder seats are going in D.

All good things have to come to an end... I completely lost the clutch pedal this morning on the way to work. I didn't have time to check out what the issue was, but the pedal is completely dead. I had clutch pedal when I left the house.

I'll dig into it tomorrow.

Check your clutch reservoir fluid first. Clutch's usually don't go out that fast...

SVT

Did that at lunch. Reservoir was empty. Added fluid, had pedal again. Pumped it about 10 times and it started leaking out of the bell housing....

So doesn't seem bad, other than having to drop the trans. I've replaced this before, it is just a pain without a lift. Oh well. Ill get it tomorrow. Also hoping to get the diesel ready tomorrow too. We will see

Well my dads mechanic decided to do the job for me while I'm at work. When you pulled the transmission off, everything came out in pieces. The clutch was smashed into the flywheel, slave cylinder was pushed into the pressure plate, throw out bearing came out in pieces. (at least that's what dad and him told me on the phone) so looks like this little booger is getting a new clutch assembly and flywheel!

I can't complain. Including the interior and edge conversion, I'm in this truck 410 bucks.

So this is going to run me around 350 bucks. I'm still under a grand

This is a comparison of the throw out bearing.

Notice how the new blue one has the metal bearing on it, while the old one does not?

clutch was well used to say the least...

You can see the burn marks on the flywheel where the pressure plate was actually rubbing the flywheel. The rings on the flywheel were all between the clutch and pressure plate when installed.

So it's not as bad as they made it out to be, although the clutch master cyl decided to take a shit as well. So I ordered a new one of those and hopefully will get this little dude back on the road today!

I'm sure you know, but make sure you resurface the flywheel as well :icon_thumby:

Thanks brutha! But we just bought a new one. Just in case the flywheel was cracked anywhere, and it wasn't that expensive at all, so we just replaced it.

Ho lee shit. This thing was a severe pain. Since the clutch job on this truck is so much more different than other vehicles we kept getting air bubbles. It didn't help that the new oring for the slave was bad. After hours of cussing and reading, it's done. Now that I have opened the spending bug on this truck, I plan to do a little upgrading. Just things to make the drive better. New suspension, tune up, sat radio, and better speakers. Then likely will fix the dents and dings and squirt some new paint on once D is on the road.

so much easier to bleed it on a lifted truck, find a hill that will put the truck damn near verticle. stop and pump the crap outta the clutch. roll back and have an assistant crack the bleeder while doing their recomended procedure. repeat as necissary.

or do as the video in the tech library says to do it before you put it on the truck.

When I did the clutch job on D, it took like 2.5 hours to do the whole job. This little rascal, took 3 days! (granted i didn't work on it every waking second, but you get the idea)

It's all good though, I got it down now!

this is how we finally got it. I had no idea it was different. If it wasn't for that video, i think i would still be trying to figure out what is wrong with it.
