The Legacy of Whopper Jr

Well, I decided to swap the seats that I removed from D with the broken nasties that were in this truck. While trying to install them, I found out the rear mounts on the seat tracks are different in an extended cab and a regular cab. So today I am swapping the mounts, and finishing the install.

While moving the truck last night, the stock seat was still in the bed, and when I hit the brakes, smacked the back window.

So now I have to replace the back window today as well...

Been there, done that...twice! Junkyard glasses are Kool :icon_thumby:

The window wasn't bad. My dad tried to remove the busted window out without removing the nuts... Yea, so now all 3 panes are shattered. We did get it out, pulled the seats out, vacuumed the glass we could see, sanded the old glue and crud out, then used some acrylic enamel to cover the frame before installing the window from D's old cab.

Now for the real pain in the ass.... 2001 ext cab seats into a 1999 regular cab... Just so everyone knows, IT'S NOT A DIRECT BOLT IN JOB.

The front mounts of the seat brackets are the same, and line right up. The rears are COMPLETELY different. You can't just swap the brackets or the seat frames over either. I tried both. It's like they are completely different. I don't know if this is the case for any other, but my Explorer leather buckets bolted in with me only having to ream the holes a little.

I first ground off the rivets and removed the rear mounting "feet" from all 4 seats, then I first tried just swapping them, that didn't work. So I had to build new mounting brackets and weld them to the seat tracks. This took muh longer than I originally hoped, but I'm happy i did it. The new seat is sooooo much more comfortable, and where I drive this 55 miles a day, I want the interior to be comfortable. I ran out of time, so I only finished the driver side. I'll work on the passenger side later.

Yeah, I mean, why does anyone need a passenger seat anyways? :D

Well, it's in there, but just the front two bolts are holding it in. No one rides in this but me, so I'm not too worried

I drove my truck for like 3 weeks or a month with only a driver seat. That shows just how pathetic my social life is...... Work school sleep, and repeat

We take the Sonic everywhere, so this is just me in this one. That is the one benefit of having one car under warranty.

Figured I'd snag a pic after removing the bed caps. I like it better without them.

Notice the stickers on the back window... I peeled the pirate one off.

Question for you electrical gurus... I have replaced the terminal ends on the truck, and it worked for a short time, now I have nothing. Turn the key to "on" and the lights come on the dash, go to start and "click" is all I get and all the lights shut off.

Again, this happened before, the terminal head was bad, so I replaced it. Then it started doing it again out of the blue yesterday. I cleaned the terminals, cleaned the wires, and still getting the same problem. This is the POSITIVE terminal end.

When you changed the terminals, did you cut off the bad/corroded wire to get new fresh copper wire for your battery lug/terminal? How is the cable for the ground side? Make sure to check both ends of the cable(battery end and starter/block end)...

SVT

I didn't. I just used the crap vale that was showing. The cable isn't quite long enough to reach. The ground side looks good. No issues there

I would just go and buy a new set, they aren't that much.

Set of cables? Or terminal ends?

I was going to buy new cables, but the power one is the bad one. How would I go about that? It runs into a "t" beside the battery

Set of cables, and you should be able to find one that would work, or go to NAPA and have them make what you need, it will cost a little bit more, but in the long run it will be worth it.

Ok, I'm looking to see what I can find. I don't really want to have to cut the cable and splice a new cable end on. Or am I still not getting what you're saying?
