Finally did it! I took my time to remove every little bit of foam from the board before I did any glueing. Til it looked like this!

And here is the finished product!

Mounted up in the truck...

The fabric I used was non foam backed micro suede from the Jo-Anne fabrics and the glue was headliner glue from there also. Total cost was about $46.00 with two yards of fabric and glue. I even had enough fabric left over to do this...

Damn. Looks nice. I think black carpet would go great with that.

How'd you go about removing the foam?

A wire brush, and a stiff plastic bristle brush for the more fragile curvy areas. When you do it, just be patient, or else any bit of foam left will cause the new material not to adhere properly.

And thanks for the comments! It's my first semi-major interior job!

looks great is that "street suede"? not rear but its a synthetic. that is what have been using its a lot cheaper than rear cow hide.

That's how you do it huh? I just may do mine if I do decide to start restomodding my truck.

I did the same thing in my Laser, it was kind of nice that you could write notes to yourself in the ceiling if you needed to. :icon_idea:

Looks great....I did it a couple years ago on my X..

You guys have it easy though...Your headliner is about 1/3 the size of mine. I had to remove just about everything to get the headliner out...
