It's easy enough to change in the future, if that is his plan. I went with the drummies on my ranger's 9" since it's 11" in diameter, much bigger than stock, plus it stops as much as it needs to.
Love the build, love the details. You are truly a guy who knows what he wants. Keep up the good work!! It'll pay off soon!
When the truck was stock, I could lift the rear wheels under hard braking, so the rear brakes really didn't need to do ANYTHING. I'm not the least bit concerned about them being inadequate. I won't be running a power booster, or power steering either.... all manual. Main reason I stuck with the drums though is that I just happen to prefer the appearance. If I had the ambition, I would have figured out a way to put finned Buick drums on all 4 corners.
Those 14 inch Supremes with 5.20 rubber are off my lowrider, and the 22's are off my 08 Grand Marquis... neither will spend much time on this truck. I just put them on for fun, because I had just pulled them off for winter.
The plan is to run big and little as-cast unpolished Torq Thrusts (or other vintage mag) with pie crust cheater slicks in the back. Kinda like the look of the Radir flag cheater slicks.
I'm hoping to have it done sometime in 2012 or 2013... it won't be done for a while.
I won't be running the big rims very often. I bought them for my Marquis and really like them on that car. They look a little too donkish on the truck, but I'll probably run them once in a while. I also have a set of 17 inch Mach1 rims that have very few miles on them that look good on the truck too. They looked kinda neat on the Marquis as well, but I do prefer the 22s on that car. I like a wide variety of rims, and it is handy that most of my vehicles take the same bolt pattern. I think I have 5-6 sets of aftermarket rims that fit this truck. Absolutely love Ford for that.
I might try these on sometime too. They are some late 70's era Appliance Fine Wire 70 spoke rims that I used to run on my 89 Vic. Still in mint shape.
