I am rebuilding a 93' 4.0L motor and plan on replacing the stock cam with comp cams 49-422-8. I am being told that I should do some computer work to get the best setup. I cannot find the stock lift and duration numbers on the stock cam for comparison. Is the larger comp cam worth it? What computer upgrades would help out? I am running 33" tires with a 5 speed. Truck has 125,000 miles and is getting tired. Stock 3.73 gears. Anything else to consider with the engine rebuild????

i would mill the heads a little to get a bit more compression, get a decent valve job done, and do a little DIY Port job while i had it apart.

this might help you a bit, it is from the tech section of this great website. not sure if you have been here or not. it gives a good over view of the engine break down.

I was wondering something after thinking about your placing the 422 into the motor. are you replacing the heads? I am placing the 410 into a 4.0 rebuild, reason for not going the 422 is that i was reading that the 422 increases the compression to a degree that the heads need to be swapped out also. ( i may stand to be corrected if I have this wrong)
