Still wanna kill it Bill?

Hell yeah. I wouldn't discontinue this truck. It's the second best selling small pickup. And the first best small American pickup at that. :headbang: Take that GM and Chrysler. :thefinger: And the fact that it is still selling after it hasn't been changed for 9 years is just plain awesome. Ford trucks for the win!!

Yeah I think that its great that it was redone last in 2001 and It outsells cars that have been redone... Sure the body lines havent changed for a while but they are still good looking trucks... If they kill it they are dumb... But hey the month that the ford taurus was named best selling car of its class ford killed it few years later what did they do, came out with the taurus again...

like I said stupid move on their part if they kill it

yeah man the ranger's body design is around since 93, and it still looks fresh, not a lot of cars can do the same.
its a clean and really well done design.

I saw this too. Ford Ranger literally sells as many as the Mustang does.

If Ford kills the Ranger it's going to embitter its truck fans the way killing the XJ pissed off Jeep fans.

I mean, seriously, Ford saying "people who want a truck should buy an F-150" would be like Jeep saying "people who really want an SUV should buy a Wrangler, or should just buy a Dodge Caliber instead". There are levels of ruggedness-to-refinement, and I'd like to point out that Jeep fans still haven't gotten over the death of the Cherokee.

I watch the Patriot/Liberty forums as well as the Ranger Station, and in reality a newer, capable, more modern XJ that combined the best of both worlds with what made the original Cherokee so great would put Jeep back on the map again. Just as Jeep killed its four-by-four Ford killed the FX4 and is forcing its customers into ever-growing fullsize pickups when what they're looking for is a simple rugged utility vehicle.

Ford isn't being fair here. Truck buyers are looking for something smaller and Ford is trying to force them to take a bigger vehicle than what they really want simply because it's easy for Ford. If Ford tried to sell car buyers on a Taurus when what they really wanted was a Fiesta I guarantee there would be cries of bloody murder from the press, why not the same anger over the Ranger's death?

The 2010 Mustang hasn't sold well, I would wait until the '11's get out to start calling them out on sales numbers.

100 more hp for both the GT and V6 in '11, would you wait a couple months or get a 2010? They are really marking them down now just trying to get rid of them.

I wonder how much of this is fleet sales?

And that thing has been dead for almost 10 years. And I agree with every Jeeper that is still dwelling. The Cherokee was to Jeepers what the Ranger is to us. Simple, rugged and utilitarian; everything they need and nothing more. Jeep is try to rekindle the fire and they just can't. Go ahead Ford, learn from them. I'm sure that plan will work out just dandy:thefinger:

I can't knock this decision until I see what they are replacing it with. They may be using a platform that is more versatile and will allow a real 4 door that everyone has been crying for.

I asked about fleet sales because the Ranger is soooo cheap since it hasn't been update is so long. That's why you see them at almost every parts store in the country as well as for utility companies and many cities parking police.

When are they killing it? The Ford site says I can still order a 2010 XLT with 4.11's and 15" wheels. Figured to get skid plates and auto trans. My house pays off next year about this time and I wanted to wait till then. But I have not seen any 4.11 xlts listed in inventory.

I hope they don't kill it. Even if they want to bring in a new platform like the European Rangers are doing, keep the name and keep the size of the truck. I don't want a full size truck. I want a truck I can drive every day, get 20+ mpg, still fit down trails only wide enough for a Jeep but also be able to haul 1/4 cord of wood in the bed while pulling a 3,000lb trailer load when needed. My Ranger is one of the only trucks I know that fits all of those qualifications and thats why I love it so much.

I would definitely buy another Ranger.

I too drive on narrow trials in Colorado and Utah and sometime in KS. My BII and Explorer have the pin stripes to prove it and a full size would be a bit worse. And I'd much rather pay $2?,000.00 for a new Ford Ranger than $3?, 000.00 for a F-150 or a Rubicon. I'd really like them to bring back the Bronco II or a smaller Explorer like the 1st gen. But I can see them wanting to increase the F-series numbers.

So they droped the FX4 last year. No problem for me as I like the 15" wheels on the xlt and don't need all the decals an such. I can still get the 4.11's, payload package #2, skid plates and a full size spare. Figured I'd slap on a set of 31's and a Lock Right in the rear and be set.

Only way I can afford a new truck is if my house is payed off. If they don't keep it around till next year I might as well just keep my 94 Elporer and 88 Bronco II. If Ford wants to sell me a new truck they need to keep it the same next year as it is now.
