Still wanna kill it Bill?

I dont see this working out for them at all. I love my Ranger (04 4.0 5spd 4x4 x-cab for sale) but I need room for a car seat. What they need to do is come out with a crew cab Ranger and I would be all over it. How about a V8 while they are at it. If they had a V8 crew with a higher payload I would be all over it to haul the fam and tow my zook at the same time.:icon_thumby:

what they need to do is make it exciting again. people naturally get excited and interested with some degree of change.

look at how popular the newer tacomas are. i swear, i see more newer tacos on the road than i see the older ones anymore. ford could earn itself that huge rush of business in the same manner. redesign it, make it different.

a four door cab and V8 option would be immensely popular, i'll bet. i know i would be chomping at the bit for one if i could afford it. ford just needs to smarten up and not make the same mistakes that other american automakers have made.

thats because all the older ones rusted in half:icon_rofl:

Sportrac . . . .

I read somewhere that ford wanted to bring back the f-100 as a smaller than f150 truck. But if they put say the ecoboost v-6 in a ranger that would be sweet.

totally the sport trac. i love the first generation sport tracs but most of us don't. not too sure why, but i've noticed that a lot of the guys on here bash on the sport tracs. maybe if they kept a more ranger like body style with four doors, guys would be going tits over it.

I like them to because they shared so much with the Ranger. But then it got all IRS-y...

I like the looks of the front end of the first gen over the comparable Ranger. Someone (probably more than one) on here switched front clips on his Ranger and it looked DANG sharp.

The IRS Explorers ride so much nicer than one with a solid rear it is incredible, for 99% of the people that buy a new vehicle it is a no brainer on which one to pick. Hardly any people that buy a new car offroad it hard enough to note the lack of flexing.

i just don't understand the thought process behind making trucks IRS. ESPECIALLY 4x4s. sure, it might ride nicer and all but that's why i'd make 2WDs and only 2WDs with independent front and rear suspension.

What is wrong with them?

If they are good enough for a Humvee (the real military H1 that they drop out of planes) or even an Expedition they should be good enough for a puny little Ranger sized rig.

straight axles are manlier :thefinger:

I really think that they need to put the new v-6 they are advertising from the mustang in the ranger that thing would cook and to get like 30 miles to the gallon that would be schweet

I think they need to change the 4 Liter again. Make it more efficiant this time. It has always been the problem. Four whole liters and only 160 hp. Somewhere somthing is being wasted.....GM's 2.8 made 120 horse.... and at 16-20 Miles to the gallon I'm sure theres room for improvment. I say we need to be able to order 4 cylinder 4 wheel drives.

If they get rid of the ranger Thats another less ford product without a standard transmisson
