my steering pump squeaks after replacing it with a new one. The instructions said the squeak would diminish after 200 miles but its still there. Should I replace it or can I pull the pulley and pack it with grease? Its a 96 ranger 4.0l

i tried the wd 40 and 3 in 1. they both seemed to make it worse. Thats why i asked about the grease..

update

UPDATE: So the squeal only got worse so I replaced the pump with another one. Now, the pump says that after installation that there will be some noise for about 200 miles. Ive driven that easily. The squeal goes away on idle but as I increase rpms, it gets louder and doesnt seem to be getting any better. It is an AC delco pump from autozone. Should I try a different brand? Should I tough it out and see what happens?

It is bled properly and full of the correct fluid.

Thats an awesome link Thanks!!! I def used what the Ford MAnual requires which is Automatic tranny fluid MerconV its mind boggling how I cant just replace the pump and have it go away...
