Question is what year ranger or explorer steering links will work in my 88 B2? I can get much newer ones on the cheap from the jy but I want to get the newest one that will work. Will a 95 explorer set fit my 88 B2, how about 00 ranger 4x4? Thanks for any input.

both 95+ explorers and 98+ rangers use a rack and pinion setup, major fabrication to make that swap:icon_welder:. I believe that you need to use the stuff out of a BII or ranger with a dana 28.

Do you actually need a new one? whats wrong with the one you've got?
If so, I would just go with the same, or similar year.

Im not sure if there is a difference between the d28 and d35 steering (I dont think so?) but I would just get a d28 one just because. Also the front axle got a little bit wider at some point, I wanna say 93? so anything that new might not work.

D-28 parts work on a 35. D-35 parts don't work so well on a 28.

I have a mish-mash in my Ranger's steering system and it is alignable, but barely.

For an unmodified 88 you can use parts up to 92 pretty reliably, but after that things might get dicey. Tie-rod ends might be ok up to 94 Explorer/97 Ranger, but those are so cheap that I would not buy them used.

What parts do you refer to? basically all of 'em?

I have two d28s, figure its good to know what stuff I should hold onto when a d35 goes in some day.

Thanks all, yea 94 explorer draglink and tierod ends fit, also any ttb ranger I checked. Reason is I like to know, and for 30 bucks I ditch my tired 88 parts for 94 stuff, appreciate the input gentlemen, thanks.
