I have a 84 ranger 2.8 5 speed 4x4 ,drove the truck for 17 years went through a few starters and flywheel rings,so happen I totaled that truck. so I got me a 86 Ranger 4x4 2.9 auto . I decided to put the 5 speed out of the 84 in the 86 it has been a fun project a lot of qustions I had, I found answers on ranger station to the point, my starter did not sound to good on the new flywheel so I went to advance auto parts and got a starter gear for a 90 model escourt it has 10 teeth, it sounds a lot better it seems to solve that problem I just wanted to thank you guys for the information thanks Ranger station .
