I started to get the stereo install rolling in my new truck as the stock speakers just don't cut it anymore. Plans are to go with 6" separates in the front doors and just some 4" in the rear for fill. I want to put a sub behind the seat but have not decided what to go with yet. I am using Diamond Audio speakers all around and have a Sony deck with my Ipod. Using a Kicker 4 ch amp for now but would like to upgrade to a Diamond Audio 4 ch soon for some more power. Started with the speakers today.....

Making up plates for the rear speakers. These speakers came out of my Sidekick so thought they would be good for the rears.

Front speakers going in - using the Diamond Audio D3 system.

That's about all for today. Amp and wiring tomorrow if time allows.

lookin good man keep us posted with updates.

I installed my amp today and wired in the crossovers for the front speakers. Tried to see how far forward the pass seat will have to go to fit my sub in that I have. Good thing the wife is only 5 ft tall. May go for a shallow mount sub - can't decide yet.

I didn't want to drill any holes thru the back of the cab for the amp so I used some construction adhesive and glued a piece of plywood to the cab and screwed the amp to that. Should be able to hold the weight of the amp no problem.

looking like a really clean install so far... i can tell you planned this out, which is the most important thing to do...

good job... any reason you went with 4" for the rear? instead of the stock size to get a louder response back there?

and how did you attach the amp to plywood... and then plywood to the rear wall? you still connected it didn't you? otherwise if someone breaks in.. you're begging them to steal your amp easily lol.

he glued the wood to the back of the cab with construction adhesive, most likely pl construction, then he screwed the amp to the wood.

and he took the 4''s outta his sidekick so thats why hes using them.

The rear speakers in my truck are blocked by the seats anyways, so I didn't want to buy new ones. Figured I would just use what I had. When the construction adhesive dries it is pretty strong stuff. I live up in the mountains anyways - theft isn't a huge problem up here.

nice install. i bet its a completely different system. enjoy

Was looking at some Elemental Designs 6" subs to go behind the seat instead of my huge 8". Not looking for huge bass but just want to add some bottom end to the system. The Diamond 6" separates actually have some good bottom end. I have the high pass on the amp set at 70hz right now to keep the low lows out of the mains. Pretty happy so far:D

Sub is finally in:yahoo: Decided to go with the eDesign 8" as the install depth on the Diamond audio was a little too deep for the space that I had. Balances out the system nicely and can't wait to get some carpet on the box as well.

looks really nice, mind sharing the dimensions and air space of the box? let us know how the sub performs once it is broken in.

in that box, it looks like a 6.5" woofer. that box looks bigger than the recomended .5cf. maybe im wrong though. nice work though. i have my eD 8" on 150w and i love it.

The box is 20" wide and 12" tall. It is 4" deep at the top and 7" at the bottom. I think it worked out to about .35 cf. That was all I had room for as the wife hates having her knees in the dash while we are driving:D
