Well, the Ranger went in for body work a little wile ago, I stopped by today to see how thing where going. It looks horible right now, and theres still a lot needed to be done. Tomorrow they are doing the cab corners and welding up the box. Thier guessing it will be done in the next 2 weeks.

The best part is, one of the guys there, he's been doing a street project on his 1992 Ranger. The same body style as mine. Believe it or not, he had never heard of TRS. I told him about the site, and I'm hoping to see pictures of his Ranger up here soon. Its an awesome looking street truck, soon to have a 302 dropped in, appairently. Everything is being shaved on his, the tailgate was welded up, tail lights welded up, soon to be frenched lights (if I got my term right) layed into the rollpan. Its going to be nice. I might be jelous...Maybe.

-going to be nice. is that the orginal bed?? it seems to be in worse shape than the cab.

not the original bed, It was a replacement bedside, and it was just quickly painted with house paint, Its actually in better shape then the cab, there was just a little patch of bad rust on the driver side well.

Between $6000 and $7000, Depending on the amount of rust, and a 18 year old truck in the wonder world of ice and snow, with gravel and salt on the road in the winter, they don't last long ("Lets chip up thier paint, and then rub salt on the open metal"). I figure, I know I'm keeping the truck, and if I put $10 000 into it, I can bring it up to almost new condition and have it on the road for another 10-20 years before it needs redoing again. I like this truck and I don't want to get rid of it, and rust isn't taking it away from me.

The biggest thing is where the rust is, they have to pull the windshield and replace the cills and windsheild corners, They have to cut the rear cab corners out, the rocker pannles are rusting from the back, the core support is rusting, the box needed welding up (and the roll pan needs to be welded on), new doors and fenders were installed, rust on the hood and tailgate are being repaired, new windshield, painting the door cills, painting the truck "Windveil Blue", painting the under/back sides of the pannels, and sealing them, umm...Theres more, but I can't remember right now, Its a big project, and its been there for about 2 and a half weeks now, and its probably going to be another 2 before I get it back (every body shop in Calgary is extremly busy, as most Calgarians dont' know how to drive, and pull bull shit moves that results in a lot of accidents. Some body shops are booked up 6 months in advance.). I can't wait until its done, the truck means so much to me, and I've put a lot of blood and work into it. Its more then I wanted to pay, but no body shop would even touch it because most deal with accident repair, and not rust repair (even though its pretty much the same thing in some cases). This was the only place that would do the truck before summer, and the only place that is withen 20km of my place.

I stopped by the body shop today to see how the truck was coming along. To me, it still looks a long way from being complete. They're saying if all goes to plan, they may be able to start paintig wednesday, or thursday. Now for the pictures. I'll get some more after I stop by again after my mirrors come in.

The roll pan, sorry, best picture I could get of it.

The reason why my truck went for body. Its a lot worse then it looks.

Can't wait to see it finished. This is a little of that motivation I need to finish mine. Granted mine is in better shape body wise, all it needs is a cab corner and rocker panel. First things first, and that's to get the suspension and motor done. Good to see that I'm not the only one that's nuts enough to put that much work into one these trucks.

Well, I had quite a shitty day at work today, a tube of sillicon blew up in my hand and covered my hand and some of me in sillicon. Then I basically lost every job I was susposed to do today, so I pretty much stood around an DF the day away aside from when the boss came to the shop. So at the end of the day, I finally got a job, 4 tires on a Honda Accord. Sound easy, and it is. However it makes in very hard to do when your tire changer goes ka-puts. The rest of my free time was cleaning up the sillicon that somehow manages to get everywhere, and service the hoists. So I decided to go to the body shop after work and see how my truck was coming along, seeing my baby always makes me happy. Seeing how it was sitting today put me in a good mood.

I was talking to Paul about a spray in bed liner and wasn't sure if I wanted to go that route. After thinking about it hard, and my other options, eiher a plastic drop in under the rail, that is death to paint, or leave the box exposed, that is also death to paint. I decided to do the spray on liner, only to find that they read my mind and did it anyways, that was quite awesome. There is a tarp over it, as the stuff really stinks, and they didn't have room and it would stink thier shop up if it was kept inside, the box was also primed.

Now, for the painting, the front end has been done, the box is being done tomorrow. For the record, I know the body lines are not perfect, thats what I get for getting off-shore replacement parts. Its good enough for what I need it for.

And the back of the cab. They also painted the door cills, too.

Man that thing is sure looking sweet!

ya re-pop parts do suck. Definataly have them put undercoating or used oil (or a mixture) or something on the inside of them to prevent some rust, I had a re-pop passenger door and it was rotting pretty bad after only 4 years.
