My little "Grace"('92 Ford Ranger XLT that was donated to us) runs and drives GREAT for the most part, but she spits and sputters as I accelerate. She's got a new fuel filter and air filter. Do you think it could be the fuel pump? Once I get to the speed I want to go, the spitting and sputtering stops.

might be. hard to say without pressure readings. Bad O2 could cause that too. Bad O2 seems to be the answer to every other problem on the 2.9.

"spitting & Sputtering" is usually either fuel or spark.

Eliminating the fuel filter is a start.

Next is general tune-up, I.E. cap, rotor, wires & plugs.

after that look at the HEGO.
