Welcome to TRS
Yes, your year will need a PATS(passive anti-theft system) key, the key does have a passive RFID tag in the key handle, no batteries required.
Each key that came with the truck when it was new had it's own unique number RFID tag, each number was added to the trucks Computer at the factory, so only those numbers would pass the PATS Test that happens when you turn on the key, so only those keys could start the engine, spark and fuel system.
There are a couple of options
Ford Dealer can make a key and then ADD IT to your computer
Most Locksmiths have Ford Software so they can make a PATS key and ADD IT to the computer.
There is also the option of a Cloned PATS key, least expensive
A Locksmith can "read" the number from your working PATS key, and then "write" that number on to a Blank PATS key, so you have a spare key with the same number, no computer programming required
One thing to know, if you have TWO working PATS keys with different numbers(no clones) then you can ADD a 3rd PATS key yourself.
This, of course, won't work for you at this time.
But it can be good to get 2 more keys added, so you have 3, if you lose one you can add a 3rd again for just the cost of the key
