25 is still a stretch for ANY 6 cyl Ranger, 2 or 4wd, lol. 4 cyls, hell yeah, those can do 25 mpg.

25 I'd say is doable on a daily basis with a 2wd, manual transmission, and appropriate gears for the tire size. (Think stock) Probably have to be the 3.0 though.

I've done nothing special and get 22mpg out of a 4.0 4x4.

AllanD claims he has gotten 26 or 27 out of a 2.9 and 25 or 26 out of his 4.0 on highway trips.
