soldering in fuel pump wires....will heat shrink work in gas?

yeah so im fabbing up a fuel pump in my 87 bronco 2 that im using a later model pump. Ill have to cut and splice wires but im wondering if regular heat shrink will break down over time in the gas....I hate to use a butt connector in there but that is always an option.

butt connector comes with new fuel pump. ive use them with no problem.

well ive put some gas in a bottle and soldered a wire with heat shrink...gonna let it sit for a few days and see what it looks like. They sell some stuff online that is more chemical resistant but im curious to see if this will be fine

ok for anyone that ends up with the same problem as me...I tested a heat shrunk wire in gas for a few days and it held up fine with no degradation. So I soldered the wires at staggering points and put two layers of heat shrink on them. Also left almost no slack in them so even if the heat shrink came off it still would not be able to make contact with anything. There are heat shrinks that are designed for fuel but normal ones seemed to work fine and i didnt feel like buying an entire roll and waiting for it to come in the mail
