i have looked everywere to try to find out a way to eliminate the speed limiter on my 1994 ford ranger. i have just about every bolt on performance part but no upgraded computer. is there any other way to eliminate speed limiter? any other easy horse power boosts?

they dont.....they just run out of power

I had a 92 with a 3.0 and it deffinitely had a limited, dunno how fast it was but at a certain speed the fuel stopped flowing, scared the life out of me the first time it happened, thought the truck was gonna fall apart, lol. I'd say it's well over 100 tho.

The limiters on 99 and up that I know of are set at 97MPH. There really is not way to get rid of it either. If you put a chip in it you will still have the limiter but it will be set at a very high speed that will be unreachable by the motor EX. 205MPH

the speed limiter is from 96-up and its set for 92-point-something...and its easy to get around with a tuner.

pre-96 (eg. pre-OBDII) vehicles have a REV limiter, but as far as i know, no speed limiter....they are just limited by gear and/or power.

this fast enough?

just kidding, this was a staged photo with the tires off and axle on blocks. mine will only do around 90 with wind resistance. and it handles awful.

o yea mine definatly has a speed limiter at like 95-100 mph. you can easily feel it kick in. mine is 1994. i have done everything other than computer or hyper chip is which wut i think is next.

they are not governed, we had my buddys 94 longbed 4cyl 5spd ranger doin probably about 140mph(just seein if it would do it)

yeah right! 140 in a 94 2.3 5 spd.... give me a break. was he going down the steepest hill in the US with a rocket strapped on the back of the truck? Im not kidding though, my 92 3.0 had a limiter, not RPM either.... deffinitely fuel cut-off.

the rev limiter IS a fuel cutoff.

what exactly did the truck do to make you believe you hit a speed limiter? just quit accelerating?

i dont know if someone did anything to remove a limiter on my truck before i got it (doubt it, was all stock), but i have a '95 3.0 that on 33" tires that i had the speedometer up to 110mph, i was trying to catch up to my friends motorcycle, and that is without changing the speedo gear going from a 27" tire. definatly dumb idea to go that fast, when i slowed down my brake rotors seemed warped from all the noise they were making.

id check ur speedo its prob off because of the 33's
